just an up or down vote? no hearing?
maybe courts could start doing this also...no evidence brought forth to be examined and cross-examined, no witnesses....just bring it straight to the end for the judge/jury to decide it all
|
|
They can talk it all to death when it gets to the Senate.
That is the trial, not the part in the House. Who knows, mabe this time the Senate will even allow witnesses, unlike last time.
|
|
Well, this time the senators are themselves witnesses who the saw with their own eyes the events of January 6th.
|
|
Mitch still hasn't made up his mind. But if he says yes & he has a Gang of Seven who support him, that's 8 more votes in addition to Romney (who already voted to convict last time), Murkowski, Toomey, etc. Senate needs 2/3 of those who show up to vote, so less than 67 especially if some chicken shit Republicans decide not to show their faces.
Consider this: If Trump is convicted, he'll no longer have Secret Service protection for the rest of his life. It'll be open season! And he'll lose his pension too. And they'll certainly vote to keep him from ever running for office again! Oh man, I LOVE how he's being squeezed from all sides!
C'mon, you chicken shit Repugs! Take him down now! Then he won't have a hold on your party or you & you'll have less to fear about the crazies coming after you because the Feds will be coming after THEM!

I doubt there will be a trial. The Constitution clearly states impeachment of "the president of the United States" The purpose of such trial is removal from office.
Trump will probably take to Supreme Court and most likely win on merit.
Democrats should stop letting Trump dictate the news cycle. You are in charge. There are more pressing things to do.
Trump may be polarizing but Dems did not do well in the election overall. Repubs can flip the House by winning six seats in 2022 and only one Senate seat.
|
|
well there you go...it will be open season
WHAT does that mean?
|
|
km, you're wrong. The Senate took up impeachment against Grant's Secretary of War even after he resigned. They didn't convict him but they took up the case. So here's precedent for doing so after someone leaves office.
|
|
It is not a joke.
This is not a partisan comment but all we hear from the Dems is Trump this, Trump that.
Fine. You have the ball, go out and DO something. It's YOUR government now.
There is still a country to run and there are millions of people from every background, race, political perspective hurting.
They complained about Trump and COVID - go do something about it
They complained about Trump and unemployment - go do something about it
A trial at this point is only to embarrass Trump. They will never get 16 - 17 Rep senators on board.
Go do something productive for the American people, all of us......

Why should there be a long drawn out process when most of the Congresspersons both Democrats and Republicans that voted for impeachment were in the Capitol pissing and shitting in their pants last week during the riot? There is now information that there was a reconnaissance tour of the Capitol days before. An inside job by fellow Congressional members? WTF! You did not expect crazy radicalized MAGA deplorables not to want to kill or maim any politician? How stupid can you be? Stop making excuses for Trump, he knows what he is doing!
|
|
@km1111
that will not happen, dems don't give a fuck about the american people
they only care about three things
1. they care about having power and they will do anything to get it
2. they care about their ideology and political views and if you're not onboard you are an enemy that needs to be crushed
3. they care that everyone bends the knee to there will
that is all the things, dems care about !!!!!!!
everything else they say is pure bullshit
|
|
Trump is on my TV now lying that he has been against mob violence! He is playing CYA now! Throwing his supporters under the bus! He is a CON MAN!
|
|
@jimbo because of a thing called the constitution and due process
but again it's the dems, "laws and rules, don't matter".
the only thing that matters, is that the dems get there way
the constitution is toast at this point
|
|
^ As if the repubes don't want the exact same thing.
|

km, did you spend this much energy getting on Trump's case for not doing all the things you now want Biden to do instead of continuing to try Trump in the Senate?
|
|
There are many scenarios to play out:
One very real alternative:
Mitch can stall and the new Senate does the Impeachment trial after Jan 20th. No Rush. They can work on Biden's Cabinet instead, after that is done, then the Senate can conduct the trial. I could be way wrong but think this is what will really happen. It leaves McConnell off the hook of having to bring all the senators back for an emergency session to deal with the trial.

Adams..
What I saw Trump do was a pretty good job prior to COVID and probably 50/50 during. Could I do without all the bluster, yes.
NOW.
The Trump train has ended. I heard continuously from Biden " Trump has no plan"
He is on the clock, next Wednesday, 9:01 Pacific
I want no excuses. Trump is gone, you have House and Senate. Get out of the basement and be the President of the United States ( I remember the no Blue States / Red States comment)
|
|
he just got renewed for 6 years...he's probably done after that anyway or won't make it thru...will be 84, which is dying time
|
|
Leave it to FailedBrain_Op to ask the wrong question. What the fuck does that have to do with anything?
The real question is, why haven't you paid $100 you owe to the many people you made a bet with that Trump would win re-election? He officially lost that more than two months ago.
Be a man, autistic retard. Be a man. Again, I've got you on 200% interest per day. Don't make me calculate how much you owe me now.
|
|
I do have good news for people worried about the next 2 years:
-Nothing will get passed in the Senate (you need basically 60 votes to pass jackshit now)
-Fillibuster won't end, too many dems against ending it
-Democrats majority in the House way to small
-No DC or PR statehood
-No court packing
Not good for Joe

|
km, that wasn't what I asked you.
It's laughable you'd earlier said yours was not a partisan statement. Of course it was. You supported Trump. Now, like most Repugs, you try to deflect from prosecuting him but try to give Biden marching orders to do things for the people that Trump never did... when you never held Trump's feet to the fire for his negligence in the first place.
Again, more hypocrisy. Biden will do what he wants. The Dems in the House & Senate will do what they want... and that's to prosecute the most corrupt President we've had in history. of course, you don't agree to that because you're another one of these enablers who created that monster.
|
|
Absolutely not a partisan statement. I am not a Republican nor Democrat.
I liked quite a bit of Trump's policies just like I liked some of Bill Clinton's policies.
My point is that I have not heard jack shit from Biden about what HE would do, only Trump, Trump.
Adams, you are the raving partisan here, blogging every time there is something negative about Trump.
If Biden can get unemployment back to where it was prior to COVID, I will the be the first one here to acknowledge a good job.
The time for political party BS is over, I want everyone to do well.
The Dems have control, show me and I will approve.
|
|
Total shit show....when are Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats going to actually do something for the American people. They have spent the better part of 4 years fucking around with impeachments, hearings, and other cluster fucks......
We are paying these assholes a hell of a lot of money to do nothing.
|
|
Here's another one--jazz51. You never got on Trump's ass for not doing anything for the American people either! COVID-19 relief, acknowledging it was serious, passing a good stimulus package. Now you want to blame Biden before he does anything!
Hah!
And km you really aren't paying attention. Biden said time and time again what he was going to do.
Its just that Trump delayed conceding and helping with the transition & impeachment has gotten a lot of attention. He's got nothing to prove to you because you never paid attention in the first place. You were more enthralled with Trump, which shows your (lack of) judgement.
|
|
It's a sad sad fact that the party of Lincoln is now the party of spineless cowards and conspiracy theory retards.
|
|
And I understand that when history looks back, Trump supporters will look likedangerlus, deranged fools.
|
|
They are not republicans! They may have an R next to their names but that means shit....
This country is being so played and half of you stupid motherfuckers are to moronic to realize what’s going on!
If this shit continues it’s going to get fucking ugly in this country I hope you stupid fuckers are prepared…

this is all just f'ing PEACHY.
pinche humanos...... XD

Adams.
You just can't get over this Trump, Trump, Trump.
First of all, I don't vote so stop it with the enabler bullshit.
Second, I have not been on here talking about stolen elections or other right wing stuff as you would characterize it.
I am a common sense person. The election happened, been certified.
I would rather talk about how we can conquer COVID, get people back to work, save people businesses, and maybe learn to con-exist with each other peacefully.
You however want to bray like a donkey on ONE man that should be irrelevant in 6.5 days.
I guarantee you will have more anti-Trump blogs in Biden's first 100 days than he will have meaningful legislation.
Again, if he does well, great , I will be to celebrate it.
|
|
Beyond the 10 Republicans that voted to impeach Trump today, there are reports that many more wanted to but "feared for their lives" if they did. They feared that their constituents would literally kill them.
I'm sure everyone knows that we are not in a good place in this country. The radical right is the biggest threat to this country now and you can thank Trump for that or are you going to blame Antifa again? I know you're not that stupid.
"GOP members want to impeach but "fear for their lives," sources tells CNN"
"After receiving death threats, Republicans say they’re afraid to vote to impeach."
|
|
Doesn't matter if you voted or not. Don't try to act as if you're impartial. I can smell a Trump supporter/Republican when I see one. You already have a bias against Biden before he even gets to do anything.
Whereas our "bias" against Trump is based on EVERYTHING he's done.

Kip_Dimwit,
This is your God speaking. I am getting a little annoyed with your nervousness around me that you keep having to correct yourself in my presence. This is the 4th time.
I am also flabbergasted that you actually insulted a deity like me. I am warming up my bolts of lightning to smite you down.
Kindly stop typing & moreover, stop writing bullshit pro-Trump/anti-Democrat propaganda.
Signed, Your (Increasingly Angry) God,
SonofAdams

Rep Mikie Sherrill's account;
"Those members of congress who abetted him-those members of congress who had groups coming through the capitol that I saw on Jan 5 for reconnaissance for the next day-those members of congress who incited the violent crowd, those members of congress that attempted to help our president undermine our democracy, I am going to see that they're held accountable"
"Mikie Sherrill says unidentified lawmakers led "reconnaissance" tours ahead of capitol attack"
https://money.yahoo.com/mikie-sherrill-says-unidentified-lawmakers-042706364.html
So that means it was the insider's job (republican congress members) who are really responsible for what has happened last week.
We could use 14th amendment insurrection act to disqualify those politicians from running for any federal jobs in the future, that is a way to go rather than going through impeachment that 2/3 of the votes are needed, which is most likely to fail again, because most republicans have already lost their soul four years ago.
