President Malarky will be unable to bridge the divide that this country is suffering from.
|
|
I donβt think he will do better.... but he does sound better π
|
|
Funny thing is if you listen to Ronald Regan, he says a lot of the same shit Trump did.
Regan just delivered it in a way that made you feel good about things.
|
|
everybody wants to cock block Joe
|
|
Just shows how much people where tired of Trumps shtick that a feeble old man beat him. Lol π
Hey be happy we'll be getting some more stimi checks to spend on fun time with mamacitas

Listening is fine, he's reading a teleprompter. If he passes all he wants to with his tax changes life will change dramatically, unemployment will increase because benefits will be greater than what they were earning prior to the freebies and bailing out the states for irresponsible spending and loyalty to unions IMO is a horrible idea.

I adore him!

Meh

He will solve the pandemic and win a filibuster proof majority in two years. Then we will come for your guns and place you in camps controlled by us lizard people !!!!
|

^Gulp! Don't say that! Some of these Trump fanatics will actually believe you!

Shhh...don't let the others know I warned them!

We're back to "normal" I'm already hearing it.
I read this in some other blog:
but to paraphrase
"EVERYTHING the democrats do will be a jobkiller."
Raise the minimum wage - job killer
GIve workers better health insurance - job killer
don't let industry pollute - job killer
Join Paris accords - job killer blah blah blah."
The republican party has been shoveling this crap since I was a child.
The only economists who actually believe this work for Grover Norquist, but the entire party spews this garbage and the economic numbers they claim have never come to fruition.
Never.
I'm looking forward to hearing fresh ideas from republican, but I'm not sure they can handle it.
Same old shit.

^ Lol, same old shit from both parties, fucking idiot
βA democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
Remember the famous climate change hockey stick?
It also exists for economic systems
We're in the parabolic phase now
The pandemic accelerated us from 2019 to 2035 in 1 year, in terms of our fiscal irresponsibility
The Fed and fiat money has made this possible
As Bernanke effectively said, as long as I can drop cash from helicopters
Recessions don't worry me, lol
Nobody on the planet knows when
But, there's always a reckoning
Given my age, I don't even buy green bananas
So, not likely I'll be around to see it
But, a lot of you dumb fucks will get caught in the churn

^^ GBD.
Leave off the "fuckin idiot" part and maybe there's a conversation to be had.
I brought up predictions from the past that didn't pan out and now I'm hearing them again...
IS that the idiot part?
Come to think of it.
You're probably a fuckin idiot too, but I don't know you.
But I do know this
You dove headfirst into your own miserable predictions for the future
So you've predicted that a monetary collapse is going to happen, but you don't know when.
and your idea that all democracies must collapse has quotes around it.
Sooo that part is also going to happen. right? it's got quotes!
Nothing predictive is true. No one in the universe knows when...
You said so yourself and I'll go with that.
My point is, that you've made an argument for sitting tight and doing nothing.
You should do that.
I think it's fucking boring missing out on so much opportunity.
Just to take minimum wage as an example-
paying a non-living wage requires a hidden a government subsidy in the form of food stamps, emergency room health care, etc.
I personally don't want my taxes going to subsidize Papa John's pizza profits so they can get away with underpaying their workers.
I personally think that getting all these hidden costs out in the open is the only way to unleash something better.
Go Back Diogenes, you think you're a cynic, but in reality you're far too arrogant for that.
|
|
It's got quotes cause I'm quoting someone else's words, not mine.
Doesn't make them not true
Since you seem moderately educated
Why not continue forward and have your own internal questions about minimum wage answered by far smarter economists than I.
Try Thomas Sowell and /or Walter Williams for starters, you can move on to most anybody at the Chicago School from there.
The minimum wage was begun by racist white unions in order to stop blacks from taking their jobs
The minimum wage simply creates a group of workers who won't get hired because their labor doesn't create enough value to overcome the wage rate, that's minorities and the untrained young.
Seriously, Krugman is almost the only guy in the field that tries to justify the minimum wage.
Please define for me exactly what a "living wages" is???
That trope has been popular for a while now and I've tried to define it as enough to get me a jet, a big house and some bitches.....so far, I can't get the guvmint to go along. I suppose in that sense I'm as far away from Diogenes as one could be, lol
Don't ever assume arrogance when, in fact, disappointment in ones fellow humans is the far more likely explanation
Well looky there, I didn't use the word idiot anywhere.......
|
|
I don't know what living wage means in the literature.
I'd go with a moral position here, not an academic one.
My practical definition is something more bare bones, no jets involved, but it would pay enough so that I wouldn't have to subsidize some employer who can't make their business work without my tax dollars paying the hidden costs of keeping their workers healthy and fed and housed enough to do the work. If a business can't manage that, then it shouldn't be profitable in my book.
I had a sub minimum wage job when I was 13, but it didn't pay enough for me to move out of the house - in fact, I threw those newspapers in a dumpster. When I was 14 I got an actual minimum wage job. It still didn't get me out of the house. It took 2 jobs to make that happen.
Somebody was making real money off my back, it just wasn't me.
Thankfully college was cheaper back then. not 1970's cheap. but cheaper than now, by a lot.
I'm not some rank and file union supporter, but the big employers we've got are no prize either.
Your quote about the self-interest of democratic (small D) parties makes me think that maybe campaign finance reform and limits on gerrymandering might be the way forward.
Let's clear some smoke out of this motherfucker and see what happens.

Who cares if you're not a fan. People are tired of the obese reality show star with bad hair tweet nonsense and lies. The idiot wanted to become a dictator.
