I was talking to a neighbor and she is a Physician Assistant and her husband is a nurse practitioner. They both took a paid shift at a vaccination site. They told me that is the last shift they will ever work at a vaccination site, People were arriving to inquire if they can wait and get a vaccination if the people who had appointments did not show up and there were extra vaccinations. The supervisors there told them no vaccination without an appointment and told them to leave the parking area. At the end of the shift over 100 vials were disposed of because people did not show up for their appointments.

Do you have a link? I was trying to volunteer earlier this week, but they started asking all these questions about other opportunities to volunteer that I didn't sign up.
A vaccination might be the extra motivation I needed to volunteer. I googled but didn't find any info on volunteers getting vaccinations.

have few friends who volunteer at the masters...THEY get to play the course a week or two later...good to volunteer every once in a while
get a shot...play some golf

Why does the government have people "volunteering" when there's so many people out of work who could use a paycheck to help make ends meet?
Don't get me wrong, volunteerism is a cornerstone of being a true American...but under the circumstances, WTF is our government thinking???

You do realize if the government pays those people, WE then get to pay additional taxes to cover for those wages.....Open up business and get people full time jobs.

Othena Medical Services has been contracted by O.C. Health to administer the vaccinations in Orange County. By having people volunteer to work for free Othena is saving money. Volunteering in this case will get you a vaccine quicker but Othena will pocket more money by not hiring people to staff the vaccine events. In this case volunteering is a kind of a scam because everyone will eventually be offered the vaccine.

Not really a scam if you're skipping the line to get vaccinated. Just like in disneyland/universal studios, you can pay to skip the line.
