Duh, Liberals aren't Racists. Just ask them.
They can say that.

"Wait, so its racist to call it the China virus

Depends on your purpose.
We're using the term "South African" or "Brazillian" variant as a descriptor, to tell which variant we're referring to.
Many, such as Trump, used "China" as a way to insult China and inflame the public further about the virus have started in China -- that they are the big, bad boogeyman responsible for our pain (a narrative which isn't true).
Very different.

"The Chinese party-state did mishandle aspects of the initial outbreak. But based on what we now know about COVID-19’s early and asymptomatic transmission and many countries’ ineffective responses, it is not clear that greater transparency in the first weeks would have prevented its spread overseas. Given both this uncertainty and that COVID-19 is the most devastating global health and economic crisis since World War II, the United States and China should end the blame game over the pandemic, collaborate to conquer it, and lay the groundwork for more effectively handling future outbreaks."

Referring to a virus by its geographical origin isn't racist gives no country advantage over said origin country and is only being used as a cudgel to force others to use newspeak by the enlightened who are offended by the very people they live work and socialize with.

^So somehow those people that "elites" work with are always the victim?
That type of thinking does nothing positive except for riling up these people. Like calling the coronavirus the "China virus."

"China should end the blame game over the pandemic, collaborate to conquer it, and lay the groundwork for more effectively handling future outbreaks."
Because the Chinese gubmint is so forthcoming and open and transparent

Yeah, if you think the Chinese government is going to be honest about anything (without getting lynched by their own people) you really need to read up on Chinese politics over the past two thousand years.

I think China should sue.
I can’t take a Bruce Springsteen song, change a few notes, change the name and then get all the credit for the song.
You can’t take the China Virus... make a few little changes (mutations pffft) and then call it the South African Corona Virus Strain.
The Chinese worked hard to get this out there. It’s unethical to divert their credit. There has got to be Viral copyright laws!
