Really liked all of his work. Will be missed.

Yes he was a great actor in the movies that he started in. My favorite is Across 110th Street where he is a detective and he fights with Anthony Quinn who is a racist and violent detective who does not want to work with him. Growing up in Harlem, there are scenes that I recognize in the movie. He was also good in Aliens! I watched it over this past weekend on HBO.

RIP, Mr. Kotto.
I knew him from the "Running Man" staring Arnold.

RIP Mr. Kotto. He played a no nonsense Lt. Detective in "Homicide". That whole cast was .are up of journeyman character actors that anyone over 30 will recognize.

Great piece of work. A grin that could light up a room and a laugh that went with it. Not only "Homicide", he was on "The Denfenders", that was way back. He also was the engineer on "Alien." He can run Engineering on my spacecraft anytime he wants to. As he said, "a walk in the park."

Loved him in "Homicide: Life on the street"...a great show from the 90's...Andre Braugher was in that series as well...Richard Belzer too...he doesn't impress me at all...

There's an older movie called 'Blue Collar" about three men living on a thread at a car plant in Detroit. Cast was brilliant - Kotto, Harvey Keitel and Richard Pryor in a rare serious role. Shows the struggle they even with union jobs.
He was brilliant in Alien and Homicide, which was the precursor to HBO's The Wire. Man played Othello in a travel cast that toured the country, which is where his career really started. He was the neighbor of a colleague who said his whole family had the dad's vibe. RIP.

RIP Yaphet ....
He got to bang Pam Grier when she was in her prime. Check out Friday Foster. Got to meet him once about 25 years ago. A Y. Kotto film festival would include some of your fav movies for those who have never heard of him. He had a very nice career.
