My concern is that people of a certain nature may find it ok to vent their ills on Asian Americans, and especially Asians who operate outside accepted social norms.

Did you hear about the multiple killings of White guys at a bar by another White guy in Ohio a couple years ago? Supposedly the motive was the bar was frequented by White Trump supporters.
The killer also shot and killed his own sister at the bar.
Yeah, the media never gave the backstory of that guy because he killed White Trump supporters and when Whites get killed by deranged leftists the media doesn't care because it doesn't make their team look good. Plus they like seeing Whites die. It makes room for more diversity.
But this Christian gun nut who killed some Asians (and Whites) gets the full "White supremecist" treatment so they can cram their anti-White propaganda down our throats.
The media will jump on the White supremacist train so fast but will completely ignore when White women and children die at the hands of another race. So fake.

The reason I am concerned is that I want to warn about copycats and others.
Violence has always been a problem for our section of the community (and I in no way condone it), but this looks like escalation.

According to the police this morning he had a sexual addiction and was frequenting these places. He felt that it was a temptation that he wanted to eliminate! Let's consider a few facts before you get all worked up with the usual protestations:
(1) Based on statements by the perp and his known behavior as witnessed by others, this incident seems to be far more motivated by some combination of religious fanaticism and mental illness than racism.
(2) Most violence involving people in the massage/spa/acupressure related business are primary robberies and sexual assaults. He didn't seem to engage in either, his behavior is a statistical outlier.
(3) Having plenty of Asian friends, acquaintances and co-workers (both male and female) who have discussed their experiences with hate crimes directed towards them, it's not white religious fundamentalists who they fear the most. Problem is that the group that is most likely to engage in such behavior pretty much gets off the hook as most goo-goo progressive liberals have classified them in a "victim" category, thus not expected to be held responsible for their own actions.

All of that plays to the perception that all Black people are not hard working, responsible and patriotic citizens. I never heard the opposite being portrayed that White people are a monolithic race! My first thoughts on this had nothing to do with race, but more to do with a potential business rivalry or dispute. Considering the behind the scenes organizations that run those establishments, I don’t think it was a huge stretch.
It looks like that was wrong and it was more a case of addiction and mental illness. Again, no race issue so far, but that’s the first thing all the news outlets were focusing on this morning.

WILLIE HORTON: Yes, there was a George H.W. Bush ad that highlighted the Willie Horton case. Who was Willie? Well, here is what he did:
"Willie Horton was incarcerated for murdering a 19 year-old gas station attendant that he had just robbed. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Then, a bunch of liberals on the prison board, as representatives of Gov. Michael Dukakis, set up a prison furlough program, and let dirtbag psychopaths like Horton out on weekend furloughs. And what did Willie do on furlough???
On June 6, 1986, Willie was released as part of a weekend furlough program but did not return. On April 3, 1987, in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Horton twice raped a woman after pistol-whipping, knifing, binding, and gagging her fiancé. He then stole the car belonging to the man he had assaulted. THE IMAGE THAT ALL BLACK MEN ARE VIOLENT OR CROOKS: Simple life experience will prove any person wrong who believes such a thing. As an attorney, I work with black people on a daily basis, some of them are damn fine attorneys, others are judges, court clerks, court reporters, interpreters, and other court personnel. And two of my three favorite law school professors were black...less relevant is the fact that my least favorite, and biggest asshole prof in undergrad was black as well. But the fact of the matter is that a big chunk of the black community don't do hard working, law abiding, good black people any favors...FBI statistics on violent crime tell a narrative, and they are not incorrect...I see who is in court on violent felony charges, and who is in on misdemeanors and other stupid crap. There's a lot of black on black crime going on and that needs to stop.
THE PERCEPTION THAT ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT HARD WORKING, RESPONSIBLE, AND PATRIOTIC CITIZENS:
As I said before, small numbers of ignorant people may think that. And good luck educating and changing the hearts and minds of the stupid. However, as stated above, life experience tells the true story. I interact with fine black people every day, because I hang out in a courthouse. I don't have a negative perception. However, if I live in a bad neighborhood, and am constantly bombarded with black kids spraying my walls, stealing my shit, and attacking me, my family, and my neighbors on a regular basis, then I would likely have a different perception. I think you put the cart before the horse if you want the trust of those who don't trust, on the promise that in the future they will stop being vandalized, attacked, stolen from, etc. And liberals stoking the flames of rebellion, instead of stoking the premise of human decency and abiding by societal norms, is doing none of us any favors.

According to Ying Ma, who wrote CHINESE GIRL IN THE GHETTO, attacks on Asian Americans
were occuring long before Trump came to office. I often heard stories in the past that
Asians in the U.S. were attacked and robbed because of their wealth. It wasn't reported
much because Asian Americans are a small part of the general population and not news
worthy. Now because of the pandemic and it's origin from China, some choose to
make it a racial issue and attack Asian Americans who have no connection to
mainland China. The racist attackers don't care about the references made about
covid-19. They believe because it originated in China, they have the right to
attack Asian people wherever they are. I thought calling the virus, kungflu was
clever and humorous. That doesn't mean or imply you should go out and assault
and harass Asian Americans. Those who are racist, choose to do so, regardless
of what you want to call the virus.
Libs use Trump as the patsy or scapegoat, because they don't want to recognize
the fact that there are many racists among them.
And as a side note, many Asian Americans are racists themselves.
I grew up with plenty of racist Asian Americans. That is one reason
why I don't like many of them.
