Do we really want to live in a country where big tech decides what you can read and who can post?
If Trump starts a new platform, I would love to see every Trump supporter give Facebook and Twitter the finger.....and leave.....watch those two assholes (Zuckerberg and Dorsey) explain to their board's of directors how they caused a 25% hit in revenue because of politics.

This has been circulating for over a year. Trump loyalists already use Gab with glowing reviews. Proud Boys are already on record saying they wont switch. Assuming it gets made...it will end up in the same dustbin as Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, etc But most likely this will instead be in the same category as Trump's promised bigger, better healthcare plan, always promised but never delivered.
It's like saying Trump will make a new facebook. Getting people to try a new social platform and getting it right the first time isn't an easy thing to do. It's an uphill battle usurping existing popular platforms.

These are private companies. Are you suggesting the US government dictate private companies' rules and polices?
If you are unhappy with Twitter and Facebook, you are more than welcome to not use it. This is a huge aspect of capitalism that everyone on right loves.
China is going to suppress internet coverage of the Academy Awards because of a concern there will be Hong Kong support among the presenters and winners. Is that the power you want to give the government?

No but these platforms currently are protected against lawsuit because they told the government that they would not 'moderate' their content.
They should now lose the Section 230 protections since they now are clearly a 'publisher' and should not be afforded ANY such protection.
They should be allowed to be sued just like newspapers and television networks can be sued.

The people. First they need to be naturally skeptical at first of what they hear on the news these days, if they don't really know much about the issue. Then they need to do their own research, use multiple sources to hear all sides, and weigh all sources based on how truthful the source has been with prior info of this kind. Even then, they can't be certain, but it's a start.
This becomes exhausting, so I've resorted to saying "I don't know" to a lot of things I hear. It's a more truthful position to take.
