Three Pac-12 schools made elite 8: Oregon State, UCLA and USC. All are in different regions, so could conceivably end up with all three in the final 4, which is pretty crazy. Here are the match-ups (all times PDT):- Monday, 4:15 PM: #2 Houston vs. #12 Oregon State
- Monday, 6:57 PM: #1 Baylor vs. #3 Arkansas
- Tuesday, 4:15 PM #1 Gonzaga vs. #6 USC
- Tuesday 6:57 PM: #1 Michigan vs. #11 UCLA
Final 4 games will be this Saturday and championship game is next Monday, April 4th.
The second half of UCLA game on Sunday against Alabama had me thinking if they advanced they had no chance against Michigan, but they really turned it on in OT. If a couple Bruin players are on fire, I think they have a decent chance for another big upset. USC has some tall dudes, but will need a lot of luck to get by Gonzaga. Oregon State has been en fuego the last month and have a good chance to beat Houston. This tournament has really been exciting for Pac 12 fans.

Michigan and Illinois should never been #1 seeds. Michigan lasted longer than Illinois, but it was very apparent that the Big Ten was the most overrated conference in the country. They had 9 overall teams in the Tournament, and could have had 10 if Michigan State had beaten UCLA in the play in game.
They had 2 number 1 seeds and 2 number 2 seeds, which meant they should have placed 4 teams in the final 8...oops, they got 1 in, Michigan. Their other #1 seed Illinois got bounced in the second round by #8 seed Loyola-Chicago.
Their two #2 seeds totally sucked, with Ohio State getting taken out in the first round by #15 seed Oral Roberts, and the other #2 seed, Iowa, got destroyed by #7 seed Oregon 95-80.
So the 'fraud' Big Ten showed losing to #11 seed UCLA just how weak that conference truly was and how the Selection Committee got it all wrong. Gonzaga is definitely the cream of NCAA basketball, but it is very clear there were many more worthy teams for #1 and #2 seeds than the lousy Big 10 teams that folded like cheap umbrellas.

slight correction Jazz
Michigan St. was a part of the BIG10 nine teams.
The NCAA no longer calls it a play-in games, it's the First Four. All 68 teams selected gets credit for making the tourney.
Go Bruins. I hope you compete well against Gonzaga.
I do expect this run combined with the fall off from Duke, Kentucky, etc. to greatly improve recruiting.

You are correct.....the NCAA didn't want to stigmatize those teams and call it a 'play in game'. Of course basketball fans know about the last four out and the last four in...and those are the 'play in' teams...LOL.
Even though you didn't actually make the field of 64, and you must win a game to 'get in' we will let you say you made the tournament...your 'participation' trophy. Basketball fans still call it the play in games.

Damn that buzzer beater was a heart breaker.
Good game for UCLA, held their head high.
|
|
that was a wow ending for sure...they can hang their heads high
|

Awesome game!.. UCLA gave the Zag's a far bigger fight than Baylor got from Houston.
Bruin nation should be proud. 🐻
At one point they did a segment on the trendy hairstyles of a few bruin players through the years.
Then I realized they missed mentioning coach Steve Lavin... That guy was the epitome of GQ slick on the sideline. Totally out did Gavin Newsom.
