Went up there with some good ol’ boys from Texas who were as redneck as they come, and we still got the “not from’round these parts” attitude. Midwest hospitality is bullshit.

I have had to stay there 4 days over the past 2 years.
I would recommend driving an hour north to Tulsa. They have a Hard Rock casino there and a couple of other "Nightlife" type of things where action might be.

I was driving cross-country once on a three-week vacation. Stppped in a town in Oklahoma to get dinner and a hotel room for the night. When I entered a bar/restaurant it was just like in the movies. Everybody stopped talking and stared at me. The place had been rambunctious and loud and all of a sudden it was quiet. I almost burst out laughing. It seemed like a joke. Then the hostess came over and asked me how many and I said one and everybody started talking and laughing again. I asked the waitress what the hell. She said we don't get very many non-locals here. She said 'we don't bite don't worry'. I remember it was great barbecue.

I miss driving to OKC actually just east of Norman on highway 9 to the NCED. My job use to send me one or two times a year for training. They gave me the option of driving or flying, I always flew during the winter months.
Never cared for the F5 tornadoes, I was there when that big one destroyed much of Moore.

Oklahoma is actually really nice - just make sure you're driving a pickup truck, are wearing camo (it can even be a bright color, orange, pink, yellow) just make sure some piece of clothing is camo, men and women, and do not wear a collared shirt. Also, if you're a man, if your hair is longer than 1/4" they'll know you're one of them pinko commies from California and they don't really like pinko commies from California. You follow them rules and the people are really nice.

I was born & raised in Cali but my dad was from Oklahoma...
My dad would always refer to Texas as "Baja Oklahoma".

Some of the most beautiful lakes, winding roads and rolling hills are east of OKC. Some of the best motorcycle touring I've ever experienced. From the NCED we rode east almost into Arkansas for a total of 400 miles that day. There's a lot more I could tell you about that amazing day.

My Mom & dad took me to Tulsa way back one summer.
Lots of iron rich red dirt everywhere. Insanely awesome watermelon 🍉🍉
At sundown bugs cover the back porch screen door. Big ass fucking alien invasion monster sized death bugs.
Cool seeing fireflies at dusk.
