What upsets me more, they did not help her after the attacker left.
Leaving her in the street was fucking ridiculous.

Cant depend on anyone in the public space if something bad happens to you.
Either what the security did in that video will happen or a bunch of fools will whip their phones out to record your demise so they can post it on their socials for the likes.
What a sad state of affairs we have become.

if the guy got fired...I can see him bring his own lawsuit

Most likely the security guards are trained to not intervene unless it is on property or the property is at risk of damage. This way the property owners limit their liabilities from lawsuits. In this case, if the security guard harmed the attacker or tried to provide medical aid to the victim and there was an "issue" the guard's employers - property owners or contracted security company - would probably be named in a civil suit for damages.

well fuck...that changes everything
no harm no foul...normal course of business

Depending on defined responsibilities security guards are instructed to NOT physically intervene in any altercations due to liability.
Pissed of guy shows up to grocery store looking for employee he thinks is messing with his wife; guy wildly runs around store and goes back out to parking. Employee comes out and altercation starts and moves off property. Guy looking for fight gets his ass handed to him. Sues grocery store, property owner, and security company; probably sued employee that kicked his ass too. Store employees called police and security guard called police; what else can you do?

Even though the violent crime happened outside the scope of the security guards area of responsibility, there are many things they could have done without physically intervening, ie... 1) They could have shouted for the subject to stop or police will be notified, 2) They could have immediately call 911 to report a crime in progress as a concerned citizen. 2) They could have made contact with the victim to assess possible injuries to assist when first responders arrived on scene. All this can be done without physical intervention for those who are afraid of being liable and sued if something bad happens.
They just stood there and ignored the victim lying on the ground and closed the door. If a police officer is being attacked, they (the security guards) are obligated by law to assist the officer. But an innocent victim doesn't have those same rights?
There will always be a million excuses why one shouldn't intervene to stop a crime but, standing by and doing nothing and looking the other way is why this country is divided and will continue to be divided.

oops, forgot it was a tiny alligator...that doesn't count as much

For years the state of New York did not have a good Samaritan law and therefore many Doctors avoided having vanity plates on their car so they could avoid getting involved even though they were legally required to render aid.
Currently New York has a good Samaritan law. I am not an attorney but if you look at the New York law it seems to be very limited as opposed to some other states such as California.

-"again...we understand the legalities of it...and it's more a moral obligation to being a human
of course, the dude ain't going to be fucking jailed...maybe some canceling or family retribution of some kind
yellow makes some great points...talked about above
BUT, if there was a scenario of getting involved and risking being hurt yourself? this was it
If I was carrying a gun...I would have shot that dude in the ass a few times...if he turned to come at me? I woulda kept shooting.
A fucking old lady was being slaughtered in front of you...WHERE is that line of getting involved?
3 large black men watched it go down...then closed the door?"
==============================
Do you really understand the legality? If you were to shoot the man, you are going to jail. The guy is being arrested for assault while you are getting arrested for attempted murder.

- "if the guy got fired...I can see him bring his own lawsuit"
Nope.
Loss prevention workers get fired for tackling thieves at the door all the time. They are literally going above and beyond at their job.
If your actions are against company policy there is no lawsuit here.
