More than a hundred corporate executives hold call to discuss halting donations and investments to fight controversial voting bills
Earlier this month, former president Trump called for conservatives to boycott Coca-Cola, Major League Baseball, Delta Air Lines, Citigroup, ViacomCBS, UPS, and other companies after they opposed a new law in Georgia that critics say will make it more difficult for poorer voters and voters of color to cast ballots.
Leaders from dozens of companies such as Delta, American, United, Starbucks, Target, LinkedIn, Levi Strauss and Boston Consulting Group, along with Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, were included on the weekend’s Zoom call, according to people who listened in.

I don't get the uproar about requiring ID to vote.
How is this racist? Or holding anyone back from voting?
Seems to me some people are banking on you not knowing anything about this and to just listen to the outrage mob.
|
|
'How is this racist? Or holding anyone back from voting?'
The bill isn't racist BUT ... the racist 'woke' people are saying that people who are black, brown, red etc. are too stupid, ignorant & illiterate to be able to fill out the forms that would be required to get an ID.
And NO. I'm NOT white.

I wanted to see how the critics of voter ID laws frame their argument, so I found this the other day.
https://www.aclu.org/other/oppose-voter-id-legislation-fact-sheet
I’m not buying any of it.
Even if these arguments hold up, there are simple solutions to all of the issues they spell out.
Not to mention that 75% of the American public thinks there should be voter ID laws.
Even in Georgia only 35% disapprove of the new legislation.

I cant read WSJ because I dont subscribe.
I looked at a few stories and seems there are some CEO's that want to put forth a signed letter urging wider voting access and other CEO's that perceive the mingling in politics as a danger.
This is being pushed by two woke CEO's former American Express and Merck & Co.
Attached story says there are some 350 Bill's in play in various states right now. This would seem to have the Wokes nervous I think.
Considering the BS in the last election if all they do is require ID and signature verification what the F*ck is the big deal.
In person voting is preferred and for sure it should be ILLEGAL to mass print & mail unsolicited ballots.

I think this is simply an issue of controlling who gets to vote.
The fewer the number of people who vote, the advantage goes to Republicans.
The more the number of people who vote, the advantage goes to Democrats.
|

So are you saying Republican voters have voter ID's and Democratic voters don't? Why? Who doesn't have an ID in this day and age?
|
|
There are millions of Americans who don’t have ID. If you don’t drive a car, or fly, which is all too common, what ID would they have? Many red states have closed DMV locations in the poorer communities.
|
|
Controlling who gets to vote...
If you want to vote, be registered and show up with an ID... anyone old enough to vote is old enough to have a state issued ID even if they DONT drive.
My God... when does the Left stop acting like their voter base is so inept and incapable of showing up in person with ID?... WTF
|
|
^ Answer - state ID cards that are for people who don't drive. People that are older and no longer drive usually have one and every state has them available.

A basic ID in GA is free btw...

Alright. So who doesn't have ID's? Who are these "millions of Americans" without ID's.
|
|
^^^
Probably the some people that are unbanked.
I guess they dont buy booze or do anything that would require some kind of ID.
Can't imagine how boring that life must be.
|
|
Hey jarhead, you have to register to be able to vote.... If somebody can do that, they can get an ID...
Nice try...
|
|
In CA you register to vote over the internet and vote thru the mail.
We need a federal system where this is an option.
I don’t see anything wrong with expanding what we have in
California to the rest of the country.
|
|
Such a stupid argument! State ID is free, you can also use your Social Security number number to vote. Every single person that is a US Citizen has that.
So please shut the fuck up about Republicans trying to make voting more difficult, they are not!
If some of you dumbfuck would actually read the laws, you would learn something...
Stop listening to the woke. or don't..
|
|
its racist because Dems think black people are too stupid, to get an id. There also think there too stupid too get on the internet..
but why should anyone be surprised, the Democrats are the party of Jim Crow and the KKK.
Also its funny how MLB is going to punish racist Georgia by moving the allstar game from Atlanta(A MAJORITY BLACK CITY) to Denver(A MAJORITY WHITE CITY)???
|
|
Dem's want to push every button to weaken voter requirements.
They want to be able to run pre-printed ballots through counting machines with no ballot signature verification and no chain of custody checks on ballots supposedly picked up at ballot boxes.

In China, we have "back" people with no running water, plumbing, electricity or internet. I thought mb the "millions of Americans" without ID claim would fall into that kind of category. Oh wait. All Chinese people even the back people have an ID card so never mind.
|
|
California state ID is free, if you qualify. Most other states this isn’t the case.

People, the bigger picture! Why does GOP want to change the voting laws? Because there was widespread voting fraud. There wasn't. So the system as-is is working fine. Why change it?
The bigger bigger picture? Dictatorship is bad for business. Nobody can do much when Trump was the commander in chief. Now they can. Widespread voting fraud is bullshit. Trump is still crying about it. It has to go first.
And when your cup of coffee, your top, and your pants are screaming that their value doesn't align with you, do you have to reconsider what cool-aid you have drunken?
|
|
Social Security numbers work too jarhead1183, do you know all US citizens have them?
|
|
Then why worry about voter ID? That is the BIG picture..

In China, no one actually votes. People in charge do that for them. The CCP doesn't trust citizens to make the right decisions.
What the leftists in America are trying to do in the US is what China and many other corrupt countries already do: Stuff the ballot boxes without oversight or accountability so the right people win everytime.
The US is becoming more and more like China and Venezuela than the America the rest of the world thought they knew.
|
|
They want to change it as their elitist tax polices and urbanization demographics are all trending towards them never having power again. The only way they win is voter suppression or authoritarianism. It's not complicated.

change the system a few months before the vote...flood the system, disengage/discard the outer envelope from the ballets
UNPROVABLE at that point
WOULD you bet your life?? if WE could actually know one way or the other, that cheating didn't exist?
I WOULD btw...in a second
flood the system...just like they are doing at the border...same shit. makes it so don't even go thru the process anymore...just come back when things calm down in a few years? will that happen?

What do you NOT need an ID for?
Other than if you pay in cash for EVERYTHING - you need some form of ID.
I can't think of any normal daily activity that you wouldn't need an ID.
Even buying groceries, you can get asked to verify your credit card (or check).
Seriously - I don't buy the argument that if you don't drive, you don't need an ID.
How many people seriously are on a 100% cash basis.
Can't be that many people selling oranges at the end of freeway ramps, or the day laborers hanging outside Home Depot.
How many people will turn down a check and demand cash? That's the only people who would be impacted.
|
|
"How many people will turn down a check and demand cash? That's the only people who would be impacted."
Those who are here illegally, dead, non resident voters will not be able to vote.
Wow, actually have a secure voting system for all US Citizens? WTF are we thinking...

YellowB2 says:
Hey Night-Rider, you left a couple out:
1. The more people who vote when they're not qualified to vote, the advantage goes to the Democrats.
2. The more people who can vote more than once because of mail ballots, early voting, and no ID required, the advantage goes to the Democrats.
These are facts that cannot be disputed. And who the fuck needs 3 weeks of early voting? If you can't get your ass out of bed and go vote, or request an absentee ballot in advance, the fuck you and your vote! This stupid shit does way more harm than good.

The reality is that there's one party trying to limit access to voting and one trying to promote it. You can argue either side but you can't argue support for democracy and support voter ID.

Angler1 "Then why worry about voter ID?" There's nothing to worry about. It's only Trump supporters. There's no need to change anything.
jindd, you are insulting the American system that works fine since the revolution. Everybody can see that what Trump did is a dictatorship, that nobody president has done so openly before.
starfish, what betting your life. Of course, there was voting fraud. Like some GOP voters listen to Trump and voted twice, verified, lol. Many Georgians who were responsible for the voting system vouch for themselves, and they are all GOP. And they say the odd voting fraud isn't significant and in no way changes the results.
If you don't see the big picture, listen to yourself. Do you still think that the election is stolen from Trump? That is a lie. The system as implemented by the GOP of Georgia was doing pretty fine and nothing needed to change. To change is to admit something is wrong. The supreme court says the election is valid. Sidney Powell argues that no reasonable people would believe her election fraud claims. But you still can't let go. It's bad for business.
You can keep bickering but the next step by the CEO's and the next state to change voting laws will give you the bigger pictures.

"Common Sense Election Reform"
Sound familiar? 😊😊😊
If it's 'common sense' Why so much angst against it?
|
|
The Republicans are making voter laws so that they have a better chance of winning elections. Period.
The Democrats do the same thing.
Everything else is a rationalization.
|
|
That's like saying:
Cancer is just doing what they can to do to survive, period!
Doctors are just doing the same thing.
Everything else is rationalization.
|
|
"Even in the black market you need ID's
How do you rent a hotel room without an ID? "
Buying things on the black market and renting hotel rooms are not rights.
Voting is a right.
You can't believe in the Constitution if you don't defend our rights.
|
|
"The more people who can vote more than once because of mail ballots, early voting, and no ID required, the advantage goes to the Democrats. "
That's hilarious. You guys said this last election, and all the Republicans were in a fury trying to find evidence to substantiate this. Nope! The only ones they found were dumb Trumpsters who decided to test the system and got caught. So when you say the advantage goes to the Democrats, that's only because we're laughing at hypocrites who love our country but commit federal crimes to undermine it.

Voter ID is not a dictarship.. How many EO has biden wrote to overrule the constitution so far?

No one voted for corporations to be involved in elections, really?

"Angler might not possess the ability to argue against other people’s points, so he resorts to personal attacks..."
How are FACTS personal attacks?
|
|
"That's like saying:
Cancer is just doing what they can to do to survive, period!
Doctors are just doing the same thing.

Not exactly. Doctors readily admit that their methods are simply a means to achieve their goal -- help the patient survive. Democrats and Republicans never admit that their methods are simply a means to achieve theirs -- winning at all costs.
|
|
"How are FACTS personal attacks?"
Because they are not facts.
|

According to YOUR network, they are..
