come and gone 1 week after they started
I got the first one last year. Haven't received shit since.
A person I know got a notice saying it was scheduled to be mailed on March 26. Still nothing of course. No further info as to whether it was actually mailed. This person had always got their stimulus by direct deposit. But not this time for unknown reasons. No real way to contact them either
A close relative of mine received the first two installments via direct deposit in checking account. The $1400 just arrived last week in the mail with a debit card. Maybe that's what you're going to receive.
just got mine today! filed taxes in February, and its supposed to be e-deposited finally on wednesday. fucking incompetent! 2nd stimulus is coming in my tax refund
@thedon60...Yeah, that's my situation too. I keep watching the mail for the debit card. According to IRS, one has to wait 4 weeks before one can file what they call a "payment trace".
Pretty disappointed after having received the first 2 stimuli so quickly and without issues.
@kingnorris. I understand some scammers have sent out phony cards of some type. I have also heard that to verify, the Treasury Department name will appear on return address on envelope.
The stimulus money from a few months ago came on a debit card. At first glance, it looked like just one more of the many "Lucky you! -- you pre-qualify for our illustrious credit card!" offerings, which I immediately toss. I was just about to toss it in the shredder with the others when the US Treasury label caught my eye.
Turned out, they loaded the stimulus money on this stupid debit card instead of just depositing it into the same bank account the IRS already knows from doing tax withdrawals from it, and also tax-related refunds back into it.
There was a limit to how much cash you can take from the debit card in one visit to the ATM. I thought of people who live in rural areas without personal vehicles who have no banks in walking distance and aren't used to ATMs, having to deal with all this.
The more recent/current stimulus money was announced in a mailer that said it would be coming by a date certain, and mentioned an amount. When I logged into my checking account, sure enough, there was a deposit on the date stipulated, but I noticed that the stimulus deposit money was way more than the letter said to expect.
Great. Really smart. Give stimulus money to we who do not need it as well as those who do. Flood the economy with cash and raise the inflation factor while the national debt takes another hit.

Loki
The debit cards had a capability to set up an account and do an electronic transfer from the card to a banking institution, so you didn't have to deal with it like a 'card'. Made a one time transfer from the card for the entire amount in the 'account'.
And yes, let's flood the economy with some money that we will all get to pay back INCLUDING the interest over decades.
I actually computed the debt service using Treasury note rates for interest what the interest will be for the total $4.5 trillion in the 3 stimulus packages. Using the total number of taxpayers in the U.S. we each will owe around $930 a year in debt service alone, not even touching the $4,5 trillion principal. So people got $1200+$600+$1200=$3000 and will get to pay over $900 for the rest of their tax paying time.....LOL So by year 4, you are already in the hole. Of course, we all won't be paying that $930, so will be paying more....

I've yet to receive any of mine...

To be fair, women's lib wasn't really much of a thing yet in the 70s and segregation was still something people wanted so I'd rather not go back that direction personally
That being said if we could get the economic stuff back to pre-Reaganomics that would be FANTASTIC
^^ that was pretty much my point, although I'd mildly dispute that women's lib was absent during the 70's. It had started by then, at least in university circles and among the socially aware.
Oh I agree. It was there, just not widespread & only the beginning of a movement. Women had very limited options for employment, independence, etc.
Too bad we didn't re-elect Carter but people just hated being told to suck it up & wear a sweater because muh freedom
it's only Americans that are like "what??? do something that helps other people??? FUCK NO"
English speaking ppl are the only people dumb enough to hate there own culture and history.
The racist libtard whit chick Delaine relishes in this.
No because they think I'm too rich to need any help.
Women’s lib derived from world war 2 is the reason there are less morals and ethics and family togetherness imo nowadays. Women used to stay at home and teach their children and love their husbands but after womens lib, the recipe got altered. It made a difference…

I want to lick DeLaine's butt.

WHAT IS A STIMULUS CHECK?
IS THAT where someone tickles a spot with a feather to get me to jump?
"it's only Americans that are like "what??? do something that helps other people??? FUCK NO"
Americans give more money to charity than all others combined, not to mention time.
Not only that but the largest bequests, think Soros, Ford, Gates, Buffet, et al go to Foundations that are now the bedrock of Progressive funding. AND, they all got a huge tax write-off, lol.
Capitalism is far from perfect, just the best system amongst them all.
Think of the difference, Capitalism pertains to an economy that runs by VOLUNTARY contracts between citizens rather than government COMMAND & CONTROL (Prog idea of progress).
True socialist countries are shitholes and have never produced anything of note, other than misery and a race to the lowest rung of equal fuckbuggery (call it "Equity", if you like)..........Bernie IS a socialist regardless of what you think.
Scandos are capitalist economies with large safety nets, not socialist at all. So, in the last 100 years, name one socialist country that's been a success.......... China is capitalist economy with autocratic control, until recently India was a democracy with socialist economy, Cuba?.......please, lol. Venezuela? Russia? Zimbabwe? Nada, zero, zilch, goose egg, you can measure socialist success using a Planck length.
I'll hang out here while you ponder.

BTW, I support full women's emancipation and contribution to society.
Love them all, we go boom boom long time!
Meh, whatever. We have charity because we don’t have social safety nets like all the other countries who actually care for their citizens and aren’t just at the mercy of a billionaire wanting a tax break for their comparatively minuscule giving.
Talk to me when billionaires give away all their money to charity… but they won’t because they’re greedy criminals
We have plenty of safety nets...but a safety net is expected to be a short term thing until the person can get back on their feet and be a productive wager earner.
We have far too many people who are receiving benefits and have done so nearly all of their adult lives.
what are the safety nets you are talking about in another country that we need here and don't provide?
does one country provide it all?
Every loser wants free money.
Only an idiot would think all billionaires are crime nails and should give there money away...
And I don't want the government providing me a safety net... That is for losers.
Only racist commies think that way
But then again, maybe Delaine thinks this way because there not many guys out there that would be willing to provide for her old ass...
Wow. Talk about bring an old blog back!
I would rather the economy fully open, like before covid, and all the mask and vaccination rules be repealed than recieve a check from everyone's taxes.
I want to use DeLaine as a flotation device.
"Talk to me when billionaires give away all their money to charity… but they won’t because they’re greedy criminals"
Gee, I thought I was talking to you and even threw out some names.
Like all Progs pretending to be intelligent and well-read
But actually dumbase fact-ignoring utopians with more than a touch of envy
Most billionaires are self made, have created hundreds, if not thousands of jobs, paid a shit pot ton of taxes, etc etc. Easy for you to call them names because to do otherwise would require you to exercise your brain a bit more than you do.
Well, I made it easy for you and linked just the top 25 who've given away $143 billion. Although reading it may lead you to modify your sclerotic partisan political viewpoint......so i'm guessing you'll pass.
You're choice.....

Just don’t understand the lib mentality. “Give me free money, Free healthcare, free college, free abortion on demand.”
People still don’t get it. It all exists to make you dependent on State power, and to appeal to your darkest most selfish nature. To make you believe that you don’t have to take responsibility for anything, and all you need is more State power. And it’ll never be enough. It’ll never satisfy. When was the last time you saw a grateful leftist? Left wing ideology needs a permanent underclass that is taught to always blame everyone but themselves to thrive. It needs continuous chaos.

Its weird to me that there are people out there who will never be wealthy white knighting for billionaires.
I was listening to a news podcast the other day about the social programs in the bills that are passing and they had to take out vision care because it was considered too generous.
Taking care of peoples health is too generous but pissing away 6 trillion dollars in a shithole country for 20 years with nothing to show for it is A-OK.
The mentality of some people here is just fucked.

M1
You left out the part where the pols are basically just buying votes
Fortunately, those getting the freebies don't vote much
Just their Prog handlers/trainers.
"Woke"
"A state of awareness only achieved by those dumb enough to find injustice in everything except their own behavior."

It’s extremely easy to be wealthy here in the US, especially in the wake of OT, OF, social media, & the ability to learn anything just a finger flick away. People either make, or they make excuses.

It's all good until it isn't.
When, one day life hands you your ass through no fault of your own and no one is there to help you.

Jesus is always there to help you
