Currently it is somewhere between maybe true to probably true. Not a lie. If it was a lie...why announce it in the first place? Trump's boy was running the CIA. Did he have a secret agenda to make it difficult for Trump to continuously kiss Putin's butt?

It is curious how this walkback comes as Biden is asking for a meeting with Russia to de-escalate Ukraine, the arctic region, and other issues. Probably part of the negotiation. If it isnt true why announce it? If it isnt true why not just say...we made a mistake. Maybe that is still coming.
That does not change the fact that conservatives were not upset when it was presented as more concrete...and still dont care if it was true...because Trump likes Putin....and that's good enough for them. I too am interested. I was very disappointed in Obama's reaction to Ukraine and Crimea. Trump was even worse. I am hoping Biden takes steps to get Russia out of Ukraine. Heavy sanctions and military equipment for a start would be nice. Drumming up European powers to support it. This sabre rattling in the black sea and arctic isnt nearly enough.
