Guilty for Chauvin, now it is Potter's turn.
Apr 22 2021 04:31AM more by Tatiana36dd
Tags: Orange County, Random (All tags)

We will see how long Potter's case takes. Strange how her case took place near Chauvin's and less than a year later. I never knew hanging an air freshener on the rear vuew mirror caused for a traffic stop. The Potter case has now alerted me to the infraction it may cause if I hang one. It must be something in that area tha two cases not even a year apart happened with police.

The officer who shot Duarte made a horrible mistake and a jury will be dealing with that, but the stop WAS LEGIT!

Duarte was not pulled over for air fresheners. He was pulled over because police could not see the paper license he had in his back window, due to the illegally-dark tinted windows.

When he was pulled over and the officers realized he DID have a 'plate' displayed, they ran him in their computers anyway. - Because that is what they are TRAINED to do. They are trained, "Anyone you stop, you run them in the computer and check for warrants. Do not miss the opportunity to arrest someone who may be wanted on a warrant."

They ran him, and their was a warrant out for his arrest.

He resisted, jumping back into his car.

The police instructed him to get back out of the car and he would not.

The officer decided to use her taser, but drew the wrong weapon. <-- THIS is where is went off the rails. The cops did nothing wrong before this. The guy was wanted on a warrant and he got caught.

The officer who shot Duarte made a horrible mistake and a jury will be dealing with that, but the stop WAS LEGIT!

Some States you can not hang anything from the rear view mirror.

You just give them Cause to check you out.

Same with No front licence plate.

NO ! You Can NOT search the car.

What police pull you over for and what they write in their report are often times two different things. Using your phone is your only defense because the bodycams seem to turn on and off at the most opportune time for police officers.

The way I see it was that Dante Wright was a dumb ass who didn't know
better and had no repect for the cops. Resisting arrest is one of the best
ways to get your ass beat or get killed.

Many years ago a friend of mine and I had guns pulled on us by the police.
We cooperated and were respectful and everything worked out.
Even if I were a criminal, I wouldn't fight or disrespect the police.
THEY HAVE THE GUNS! DUH!
I would want to live another day, so I could commit more crimes.

"Cops can always find a reason to pull you over and search you car. Case law is on their side."

Not really. They need probable cause to stop you. But if you drive an old piece of shit car, chances are you have burned out lights, bald tires, or other equipment violations. Also, kids who lower their cars too far, tint their windows too dark, or play the subwoofers too loud, and subject to stop, with legal probable cause.

But search your car? They better have a good freakin' reason for getting into your shit. The 4th Amendment is clear and protects us from unreasonable searches and seizures. An illegal search that nets contraband is just that -- illegal, and the evidence will be excluded.

Ditto DrBoogie. I got pulled over, guns drawn on me, sirens, lights, me on my knees next to my car. I could hear the police radio and the dispatcher saying that they had the 211 suspect pulled over. Me!? Then I hear another officer on the radio saying there's 2 suspects and he's behind them and they're in a car (just like mine) and they're firing rounds. They're down the street from us. My cops say Shit! the driver pats me on the back and says 'Sorry buddy!' and they jump back in their car and peel out. In about 10 seconds I was sitting alone on the street thinking wtf! But... I was alive.

Yes. Cops basic m/o in this area is to look for a minor violation ( real or imagined) in a traffic stop. Their intent is not to give you a ticket but to search your car. Many younger or more vulnerable will give them permission almost every time. I have nothing to hide. . Or they will ask is anyone on probation or parole? In Ca. most probations includes a provision that you will submit to search or seizure anytime of day or night with or without a warrant . There is not much left of the 4th Amendment any more when it comes to traffic stops.

That would be their fault for allowing the car to be searched. I have been asked twice if they can search my ca, I told them, fuck no. I didn't have anything illegal but that is my right to say no.

If you are on on probation/parole, the cops have every right to search. And they should.

"There is not much left of the 4th Amendment any more when it comes to traffic stops."

Don't do stupid things like going to jail, everyone can just say no to the search,
unless a dog picks up a scent.

Cops now ask you your race, even when it's obvious.
Was pulled over in Vacaville and in Sac several months apart and both cops asked me what my race was. I've got hair salt and pepper hair down to my ass so I told them to guess ... which of course pissed them off, knew I was getting a ticket regardless.

In my first month living in California I was pulled over and given a ticket for having something hanging from my rear view mirror. I wish I had my privilege card on me at the time but I had just been stationed in San Diego so it must have been in storage back home. .

If you get stopped by the LA County Sherriff's Department they will ultimately run your license to see if there are any outstanding warrants , etc.

If officer is part of traffic enforcement then most likely you will be cited for speeding, failure to stop at a stop sign, failing to signal a turn, having a burnt out tail light, etc.

If the officer is part of criminal enforcement then most likely you will be given a warning unless you are clearly intoxicated, etc. The cause for the stop is probably one of the above but in many cases is something triggered their 6th sense. They are likely to just give you a warning because many don't feel their job is to pass out traffic tickets. They stop people because probably 90% of the criminals with outstanding warrants that they capture are captured at routine traffic stops.

As for Potter we will see how that whole trials plays out and then have an idea whether she intentionally shot this guy or just screwed up. I know of people that have been driving for 30+ years that accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake and end up driving into the local drycleaners. Professional football players that catch a football and then run the wrong way.

With all this talk about systemic racism in the police department, when
you call 911, they should ask you what race you are and send only
send officers of the same race. No Black officers available? Sorry, you're
on your own.

What also seems to be ignored is all the Black and Black crime.
And all this effort to control so called racist cops is only going to get
more people of color KILLED!

Many officer involved shootings seem to start with traffic stops, pretext or not. One way to avoid this would be to get regular cops out of this business and leave it to a different specialized form of traffic control. Some suggest using cameras and mailing tickets. Not sure if that is the solution. Traffic control officers should not be armed, however.

I'm with angler...I could give a shit if it was my own family...YES, investigate to make sure it was legit, but if you are playing in that ballpark-expect to be hit at some point.

don't run or resist, don't hold weapons....those two things will keep safer than getting covid under 70 years old

back in the early 80's...we could whine in front of them as they made us pour out our alcohol and sent us on our way...it's a different day

I'm firmly in the CAMP that if you have used a gun/weapon on another human outside of a war situation or survival....you probably need to DIE before having a chance to kill anyone or ruin anyone else's life (cops included)

I don't give a fuck how it happens btw....BLACK/WHITE/BROWNS/YELLOWS/TOWEL HEADS

the fact that you miserable asses have figured a way to get millions on the WAY out(gofundme/lawsuits) is catching on and more and more are going to be doing it...seems easy enough...just resist/run/hold threatening weapon

Tonight, on the "Real Time With Bill Maher" show, Bill pointed out several cases over the last half-dozen years when cops HAVE been convicted. Chauvin isn't the first time.

And nothing much has changed.

Lori Lightfoot will start a new protocol
The officer on the scene will have to call a senior officer to request that they be allowed to give chase of a fleeing criminal, lol
How fucking stupid are these people?

In Iceland, the popo has to go back to the car and call in for the passcode to the gun safe in order to get armed. Meantime, the criminal had time to shoot your balls off while you're fucking with the combo lock.

Let's just not have any police and see what happens.

This what Obama made the military do before they could take out a confirmed target and it would have to get cleared at the Pentagon. Terrorists would be in the cross hairs for hours and eventually slip away into hiding.

The next President ended that shit and Congress acted like they needed to be informed.

So let me get this straight. The cop will have to call in and get permission to pursue the criminal. Every criminal will know that protocol, so when they see the cop come upon them, they clearly understand they will be able to get at least a 20-30 second head start.....and you think the cops will be able to 'catch up'.....duh.

I have a better idea. Let's just tell the criminals they can go to Lori Lightfoot's house and she will give them anything they need or want.

Or let's just do away with all laws.....criminals, whatever you want, just come and take it....there will be no cops to stop you.
