My sailing days took me to four continents and many islands.
Whenever arriving somewhere the quick homework was learning the local currency, exchange rate with US dollar, and how to order food/beer.
In Mexico I like Modelo and Pacifico.
In the Caribbean i found Red Stripe was a favorite. Old Red Stripe glass bottles where designed so the bottom could be used as an opener for your next bottle. Epic packaging breakthrough. Heineken & Mount Gay Rum punch big in the Caribbean.
I dont remember what I drank in Europe but it hated the warm dark "bitters" when I was in England. It's like drinking used motor oil. 🤮

I enjoy most of, if not all, the Mexican beers. Still, my fav is Bohemia. Around the holidays, I always manage to snag a couple of six packs of Noche Buena.

In the late 70’s and throughout the eighties, I did much driving in Europe. In The German speaking countries, every city and town had their local brewery. I recall a special run of a wonderful beer, while in Hungary (they had shortages on many items, in those days).
Funny. I stopped at at Mobile gas station, outside of Salzburg, they had a beer vending machine (all returnable bottles, in those days). So, ya had to drink the beer there, and leave the empty bottle, in a rack. Kinda like the old Coke machines.
Gas station, —->driving —->drink beer—-> drive. That was Austria in 1980.

Modela negra and also Bohemia has a negro as well, but maybe only in MX.

Bohemia is a classic beer. The name refers to what is now the Czech Republic. The home of Pilsner beers.

Yeah. Many Europeans settled in Mexico in the 1800’s and early 20th century.
I know a second generation Baja born Russian. His family grew barley for the Tecate brewery.
Nice guy. Big red haired Ruski. When he spoke, he sounded like a typical mojado.

I favor the dark end of the spectrum, the brown to stout/ porters.
Thus, not many mexican brews appeal to me but if I'd have to choose:
Modela Negra or if that's not around XX Ambar

In Bavaria, we got beer delivery like the old milk man. It was great, pick up the old, drop off the new.
Mixed cases in 16oz bottles, that was heaven.....Bock, Doppelbock, Weiszen, Helles, Eisbeer, Dunkel, Pilsner, Witbier, Marzen......

I like San Miguel. I thought it was Mexican, but my Dad, who spent time in the Philippines, during WW 2, informed me, that after the invasion of Manila, the US Army sent a unit of brewers to get the plant up and running, for the occupying troops. I thought it was typical GI BS rumor, but I confirmed it’s validity in a Gen. MacArthur biography.
I also thought Bohemia beer was Czech.

Chihuahua & Pacifico for me.

I drank a really tasty Mexican beer but I don't recall the name. I tried searching online and I'm pretty sure it was Cucapa, the logo looks very familiar. I think it was named Chupacabras or Barley Wine Ale, one of those was delicious, I think it was the former. It was one of the tastiest beers of any kind I've ever had.

Negra Modelo
Dos Equis Amber
Sol

Odd. Corona has not been mentioned.
Personally, it taste kinda skunky. Just my assessment.

40 years ago Corona was good. Then something changed.

Victoria and Corona are the best for me out of all the Mexican beers, specially if you get them from Mexico, the ones from here are not really authentic ones, I am just saying.

Negra Modelo
Estrella Jalisco

I prefer a German body but the Modello Negra is really good for a massed produce beer...and to be honest a cold Sam Adams is as good as any on a hot summer day.
