If someone isn't on board with this, they need to get their heads checked out. Everything that transpired had absolutely nothing to do with "protecting" his wife.
Simply put, he's in a toxic relationship with Jada, who is a manipulative partner and she's wreaked havoc with Will's mind, which all came to a head on Sunday.
However, what disturbs me more than anything was that the Academy allowed the event to continue when they should have halted it immediately and cut to a commercial break while the situation was dealt with off-air. They didn't, and by not doing so, and also allowing Will Smith to remain and collect an award, they committed the single biggest failure I've seen on recent television.
The Academy sent the wrong message to the whole world that his actions were not only acceptable, but they would now encourage anyone else who disagrees with someone's humor or remarks and then escalate that from a simple disagreement to a violent confrontation. The Academy made the worst mistake possible by not handling that situation quickly and correctly.
Consider the following scenario: If Chris Rock had been a white comic instead of a black comedian, how would the incident and the public's reaction have been? What if someone like Bill Burr, who is fully capable of roasting someone like that, said anything along those lines? Would the incident have been handled differently if the comic had been written by a white person?
What if the joke had been made by a female comedian such as Amy Schumer or Wanda Sykes, how would everyone have reacted? Is it possible that we would have stood there quietly if Will had attacked one of them?
Sorry, but anyone who attempts to justify or accept Will Smith's conduct is a piece of shit in and of themself, and your uneducated views have little weight in a civilized society.

so I thought i liked WS, he is one of those african american actors who in my opinion has shown everyone that you can make it in Hollywood despite your skincolor and he has as far as i recall always walked upright and been a gentleman - never a thug (as far as i know)
so this is irritating to me..

A couple of things to note:
1. Will Smith is a douchebag.
2. Chris Rock is a nice guy, and unfortunately also a pussy. After being smacked like that on international live television, he had to save face and take down Will Smith right then and there, stomp on his face and call him a motherfucker.
3. Hollywood and the Academy are filled with pussies. They claim they "asked Will to leave but he refused." Really? Cut to commercial, and have LAPD and/or your huge team of private security forcefully remove him from the building. Then you pull the envelope for "Best Actor" and on the fly rearrange the outcome and give the award to the runner up (likely Denzel Washington), or you eliminate the category all together for the year.
4. You don't do what Will Smith did and 15 minutes later get the most prestigious award in the entire industry. Except in Hollywood. Which is why Hollywood is and will always be bullshit.
5. Academy evaluating punishments: Will they ban him from the Academy? Absolutely not? Will they revoke is Statue? Are you fucking kidding me? No! They will censure him, slap his hand, a short suspension, have him make a donation or a public service announcement on TV. FIN.
6. Will Smith needs his ass kicked. Anyone disagree???

I have a few Will Smith encounters stories, but the short and sweetest was when Jada tried to guilt trip Will to attend one of her concerts, and she was all over the spectrum on her calls in the back to get him to keep his promise to show. These performances were going to be her big break into rock music.
He never showed, all three nights. But it helped her channel that rage into her performances of hard rock music.
In short: he really does not care for Jada in the way he spins it in the media.

The facts are this:
-The academy award is based on performance in film not on performance at the Oscar’s. There is no language that states your aware is dependent upon your behavior at the ceremony or beforehand. So no actually, taking his Oscar away would have some serious ramifications.(This is also the most fauxwoke bullshit response I’ve ever read, not fact just feeling)
-Will Smith shouldn’t have hit Chris Rock as violence is never the answer
-None of you know shit about him or his marriage
