I also think they see the HUGE advantage, look at the global support Ukraine has received (weapons, etc) and no foreign troops one the ground.

While the threat may be very real, Russian’s have been shown to be brutal but incompetent in terms of getting their forces and their way. And most of their grunts are already in Ukraine, so these forces are not their best.

The Urkanians are doing amazingly well, taking out the Moscva warship (flagship of the Baltic navy) and sinking her. It will be a big moral booster and a sign of real vulnerability for Russia.

If Putin wants to put nukes on his borders if Finland and Sweden join NATO then perhaps NATO should match those moves by putting nukes into Finland, Sweden and Poland.
Bush Jr put defensive missiles into Poland and a couple of years later Obama removed them in response to Putin's whining. After the Russian invasion of Crimea Obama put some sanctions on Russia and then Trump removed them. I am aware that Trump and Obama know very little about foreign policy. Perhaps it is time to show a little intestinal fortitude and stand up to Putin.
