I'm all for a women's right to choose, and I wish there was a way to eliminate the need for abortion (adoption) however, I liked this subject better when it was only an issue between a person and their faith (the church). As soon as it became a political "thing" it changed everything. Now we seem to be obsessed with forcing our moral opinions on other people by codifying them into law! That, in itself, should be enough cause for concern!
What really concerns me if this truly does happen is what will the ultra-right go after next? Attempt to outlaw birth control as well? No more condoms? Why stop there - why not make sex out of wedlock a mandatory prison sentence? In the end, it is all BULLSHIT! This has little to do with a woman's reproductive rights or the rights of an unborn child, it is ALL ABOUT seeking the power to force one's own moral standards on others!

There is nothing "conservative" about legislating (perceived) morality. The GOP used to stand for limited government, but no more. It has been co-opted by the so-called "religious right."
Leaving core freedoms to the states resulted in circumstances like segregation (Brown v Board). Roe is essentially a XIV Amendment/equal protection case. Your basic rights as a citizen of this country should not be impacted by the state in which you reside. Healthcare choice is a fundamental, Constitutionally-protected right that should not be abridged by state legislatures "elected" from gerrymandered districts.

The debate over Roe v. Wade has nothing to do with imposing moral standards on anyone. It is simply an argument over individual states having the right to vote on issues not specifically addressed in the Constitution.
Let's for argument say that if the 2nd Amendment did not exist and guns are not mentioned in the Constitution at all. If there was some court decision from 50 years ago stating that gun ownership was "protected" under privacy, the same abortion advocates would be screaming to overturn such a decision.
There is no slippery slope argument. Nobody is trying to ban contraception or sex out of wedlock.
