Stay outta my neighborhood with you concert traffic!!!!
|
|
Ohh and have fun!
|
|
I got an e-mail earlier today from the concert venue, promoting purchasing parking passes in advance...
I think that I'm going to take them up on their offer, and get there early as well
|
|
You will be bored.

Michael McDonald on background vocals
|

Absolutely nothing in this area. My advice take the 5 all the way down to 905 and Take Otay Valley road coming from south of the arena.
|
|
Just play the 8 track tape in your car
|
|
I appreciate the insight, and will execute the plan my friend
|
|
There's now 3 ways to get there and none of them are great..... the south approach is the lesser known route.

Thank you Toni Braxton... I mean Lovely Brixton

Peg is a young and aspiring Actress, and she's being courted by a Director / Photographer who's promising her a big break into the film industry

I struggle at times...
Cause I think that this song just might be the best ever written and recorded as well
Lyrics
Look at us baby, up all night
Tearing our love apart
Aren't we the same two people
Who lived through years in the dark?
Every time I try to walk away
Something makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why
When we get crazy, it just ain't right
(Try to keep your head, little girl)
Girl, I get lonely too
You don't have to worry, just hold on tight
(Don't get caught in your little world)
Cause I love you
Nothing's wrong as far as I can see
We make it harder than it has to be
And I can't tell you why
No baby, I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why
Every time I try to walk away
Something makes me turn around and stay
And I can't tell you why
No, no baby, I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why
I can't tell you why, no

Peg is the bomb but I like Deacon blues
|
|
My Old School is one of the best ever.
Love the Dan!
|
|
Have fun, Id'd love to see Steely Dan live..
these older bands are quickly vanishing, one by one..
|
|
I love Deacon Blues too
They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, Call me Deacon Blues
- Yes , referencing Deacon Jones # 75 LA Rams
So looking forward to Saturday in " Lo-Cal " --- the concert venue is almost on the Mexico border...
I never saw Steely Dan back in the day, so when I saw that they were playing down in the SD area, I was all-in --- and had to have great seats too I don't do the Hollywood Bowl --- perhaps the worst parking scenario on the planet ...
|
|
Kid Charlemagne, Big Black Cow, Haitian Divorce... I would be seeing them but I am headed out of California
|
|
It's clear how I feel about the Steely Dan right? Agree the "I can't tell you why" another stellar creation is.
Some of my favorites Deacon Blue, Black Cow, Aja, and of course Peg.
Also Hey Nineteen
That's Aretha Franklin, she don't remember the Queen of Soul.

I saw them in concert in LA in the late 70's at the Starwood and it was awesome!
I saw them in concert at Dodger Stadium after Becker died, and it was...IMO - sad and disappointing.
I Hope for your sake, Fagen can still pull it off.
|
|
^ Me too
Hopefully, it will still be a great concert

"Done up in blueprint blue"
That lyric always resonated with me because I took a lot of mechanical drafting and architectural drawing classes for years.
Dealt with a lot of real blueprints

Until 2 years later in 1979. A song that defied any boundaries,at all. A German Disco group, named for the Mongolian Conqueror, blessed our sense of sight and hearing with a geographical location song.
"Moskau" by Dschinghis Khan, or "Moscow" By Genghis Khan
Genghis Khan so prolific that an 2003 study concluded 16 million men have his DNA
Moskau
Moscow, strange and mysterious
Moskau, fremd und geheimnisvoll
Towers of red gold, cold as the ice
Türme aus rotem Gold, kalt wie das Eis
Moscow, but who really knows you
Moskau, doch wer dich wirklich kennt
He knows a fire burns so hot in you
Der weiß, ein Feuer brennt in dir so heiß
Cossacks hey, hey, hey, empty the glasses
Kosaken hej, hej, hej, leert die Gläser
Natascha ha, ha, ha, you are beautiful
Natascha ha, ha, ha, du bist schön
Tawaritsch hey, hey, hey, to life
Tawaritsch hej, hej, hej, auf das Leben
To your health, brother hej brother ho!
Auf dein Wohl, Bruder hej Bruder ho!
Hey, hey, hey, hey!
Hej, hej, hej, hej!
Moscow, Moscow, throw the glasses at the wall
Moskau, Moskau, wirf die Gläser an die Wand
Russia is a beautiful country, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
Rußland ist ein schönes Land, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
hey!
hej!
Moscow, Moscow, your soul is so big
Moskau, Moskau, deine Seele ist so groß
All hell broke loose at night, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Nachts da ist der Teufel los, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
hey!
hej!
Moscow, Moscow, love tastes like caviar
Moskau, Moskau, Liebe schmeckt wie Kaviar
Girls are for kissing, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
Mädchen sind zum küssen da, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
hey!
hej!
Moscow, Moscow, let's dance on the table
Moskau, Moskau, komm wir tanzen auf dem Tisch
Until the table collapses, ha ha ha ha ha ha!
Bis der Tisch zusammenbricht, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
hey!
hej!
Moscow, gateway to the past
Moskau, Tor zur Vergangenheit
Tsarist mirror, red as blood
Spiegel der Zarenzeit, rot wie das Blut
Moscow who knows your soul
Moskau, wer deine Seele kennt
He knows love burns like embers
Der weiß, die Liebe brennt heiß wie die Glut
Cossacks hey, hey, hey, empty the glasses
Kosaken hej, hej, hej, leert die Gläser
Natascha ha, ha, ha, you are beautiful
Natascha ha, ha, ha, du bist schön
Tawaritsch hey, hey, hey, to love
Tawaritsch hej, hej, hej, auf die Liebe
To your health, girl, hey girl, ho!
Auf dein Wohl, Mädchen, hej Mädchen, ho!
Hey, hey, hey, hey!
Hej, hej, hej, hej!
Moscow, Moscow, throw the glasses at the wall

Moskau, Moskau, deine Seele ist so groß
All hell broke loose at night, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Nachts da ist der Teufel los, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Moscow, Moscow, vodka is drunk neat and cold
Moskau, Moskau, Wodka trinkt man pur und kalt
That makes a hundred years old, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
Das macht hundert Jahre alt, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho!
hey!
hej!
Moscow, Moscow, Father your glass is empty
Moskau, Moskau, Väterchen dein Glas ist leer
But there's more in the basement, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
Doch im Keller ist noch mehr, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!
hey!
hej!
Cossacks hey, hey, hey, empty the glasses
Kosaken hej, hej, hej, leert die Gläser
Natascha ha, ha, ha, you are beautiful
Natascha ha, ha, ha, du bist schön
Tawaritsch hey, hey, hey, to love

Home at last
Lyrics
I know this super highway
This bright familiar sun
I guess that I'm the lucky one
Who wrote that tired sea song
Set on this peaceful shore
You think you've heard this one before
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past
Still I remain tied to the mast
Could it be that I have found my home at last
Home at last
She serves the smooth retsina
She keeps me safe and warm
It's just the calm before the storm
Call in my reservation
So long hey thanks my friend
I guess I'll try my luck again
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past
Still I remain tied to the mast
Could it be that I have found my home at last
Home at last
Well the danger on the rocks is surely past
Still I remain tied to the mast
Could it be that I have found my home at last
Home at last

Black Cow
Lyrics
In the corner of my eye
I saw you in Rudy's
You were very high
You were high
It was a cryin' disgrace
They saw your face
On the counter by your keys
Was a book of numbers and your remedies
One of these surely will screen out the sorrow
But where are you tomorrow
I can't cry anymore
While you run around
Break away
Just when it seems so clear
That it's over now
Drink your big black cow
And get out of here
Down to Greene Street
There you go
Lookin' so outrageous
And they tell you so
You should know
How all the pros play the game
You change your name
Like a gangster on the run
You will stagger homeward to your precious one
I'm the one who must make everything right
Talk it out till daylight
I don't care anymore
While you run around
Break away
Just when it seems so clear
That it's over now
Drink your big black cow
And get out of here
I can't cry anymore
While you run around
Break away
Just when it seems so clear
That it's over now
Drink your big black cow
And get out of here

@ Brixton
I just got it
I just saw the new handle under new people
Quite ironic that we got a new Peggy on the Peg blog
And that's Peg by name, not what AvaAllure is famous for I don't want AvaAllure coming after me
|
|
Babylon Sisters
Bernard Purdie killing it as always.
Well I should know by now
That it's just a spasm
Like a Sunday in T.J.
That it's cheap but it's not free…

The best 70’s band musically with the best musicians on their meticulously produced albums.
Can’t buy a thrill comes to mind as very apropos for this site.
|
|
I'm a fool to do your dirty work oh yeah......
|
|
I'm with Pete. I would never THINK of leaving the house without Steely Dan on the soundtrack.
|
|
Pete, If you go on the 905, you'll be able to see Mexico. Wave Hello to my relatives and enjoy your concert!
|
|
Saw steely dan tonight at the Hollywood bowl… outstanding show, great night out … Pete, enjoy!
