Ya the Bonus' should go to people who actully produce some thing.
That’s not how many workplaces work anymore.
Sounds like the rhetoric of managers that have no purpose other than to harass people in person.
Every tech company has backed down from this and are going with a hybrid/remote indefinitely.
The cult of Musk thinks he can do no wrong, but he is wrong on this one.
Zeros....
It is his company, and he can run it however he chooses.
If he finds he loses some good people, he might change his mind. However, innovation often comes as a result of ongoing collaboration, and that is hard to do remotely.
You can easily innovate remotely. That’s essentially what I do.

the flexibility is great...it will help lots of people going forward and the tools for this kind of thing has gotten pretty good
the companies I talk to? think the at-home productivity is shit, but liked the flexibility it gives some of the employees when they have issues
I'm sure MUSK made the calculation on this...HE B playing 4d chess with everyone...he probably knows the EXACT employees he's talking to on this

This guy is a man child that would be that loony guy in the bar if it wasn't for his family's apartheid emerald mines.
He's a good hype man and good at accumulating currency.
But, he is still wrong.

are these the same economists working with biden today?
some jobs are great for it...i know many that do programming or hard deadline shit and work from home is good
i talk to employers that think while the flexibility is great for those that need it on occasion...say, for the most part, the productivity is not close. should they go talk to these same economists?
Damn. I knew I would get busted for pretending to work
At home these last two years. The pay was great and so
Were the hours.
But if the innovation requires collaboration of minds....might be more difficult virtually.

Screw Elon Musk or should I say... "Mollusk". He's an arrogant asshole.

This part of the article says it all:
"In recent weeks, Musk has praised Tesla China employees for “burning the 3 am oil” while saying that Americans are “trying to avoid going to work at all.”
Thousands of Tesla staff in Shanghai have been effectively locked in for months, working 12-hour shifts, six days a week. Until recently, many were sleeping on the factory floor as part of a closed-loop system meant to keep Covid out and cars rolling off the production line.
Workers brought in to bring the factory back up to speed are being shuttled between the facility and sleeping quarters -- either unused factories or an old military camp -- with day- and night-shift workers sharing beds in makeshift dorms."

“The Elon Musk Cult” Now that is amusing. “ He couldn’t have done it without the Families Enerald Mines” Sure, any rich kid could build Pay Pal, SpaceX and Tesla.

kinda crazy where they come from...funny shit
4d chess when most are barely playing checkers

Rich boy who never worked a hard day in his life doesnt realize you can be as productive working remotely as you can working in the office.
These are executives so being present is like 75% of the job. They get paid to attend meetings all day and have 3 hour work lunches.
I can get a full day work in most days with the time I would spend getting ready and commuting to the office and driving home. I can be effective and efficient with my time.
Musk is the fool that decided to spend 44 billion on Twitter. The guy is not as smart people make him out to be.
This will bite him on the ass.
And not in a pleasant way.
Most employee's need supervision as there are too many distractions at home. There is a reason people are fighting to stay home and not go back to the office, and it isn't just the drive.

"It is his company, and he can run it however he chooses." Tesla is a publicly traded company with a board of directors. Elon Musk owns 17% of the stock, making him the largest individual shareholder; however, institutional investors (venture capitalists, hedge funds, pension/retirement funds, etc.) need to agree with Musk for him to "run it however he chooses".
One employee on Reddit said that the staff had expanded over the last two years and that there was no desk or office space for him "at the office".
Musk will never realize what "good" employees he lost over this policy as they won't be there anymore. Having a lot of money and being smart does not make you wise.
i believe Musk mention the word "Executives" and I think he is spot on. yes i am also a fanboy.
US workers are generally much less efficient having to manage themselves, generally speaking are not self starters and needs a lot of nudging along and managing.
Some functions could be done very efficiently working from home, if you have the right people and its all "production" (such as coding) and not development/collaborating etc.
however there is one way you can make the work at home worker bee stay on track.
have them turn on the sound in teams all day - like an open mic.
so you can have random conversations, just like if your in the office.
How about the politicians working 40 plus hours a week ?
It's very funny to me to see how pissed off people get at this.... mostly on the left.
Why get your panties in a twist?
Most of those that think he's wrong voted for Brain Dead Biden.
If the biden economy is SOOOO good, then great, those people will leave Tesla & find other (better) jobs..... right?
Much about nothing.

=======================================================
That is the worst.
If you are a terrible worker, its going to be noticeable in the office. Working from home or not some people will be awful no matter what.
I am more productive at home cause I have less distractions. When I need a cup of coffee at the office, it will take 10-15 mins cause I have to take a long walk to the break room, wait in coffee pot line, run into a few chatty coworkers, etc.. Its annoying. I get my coffee in a couple of mins at home.
Lucky to have a boss who treats all of us like adults. My group been working remotely for a majority of time for years before the pandemic.
