It’s just part of their merger. The phone should be fine, the idea is for old sprint customer to transition to T-Mobile network.
4G as a technology isn’t going away anytime soon.

Flip phones rule...

had the same thing happen.
Kept the old # on new burner.
But text history is gone, for people I've seen, it's not a big deal, but takes a few extra steps.
First world problems.

Apn settings .... if you have changed providers you need to ensure you have the right app settings for their network. If you are trying to connect to a network your phone does not have a plan on it will not connect.

perhaps things have changed, but at one point, if you used your cell in another country you brick it.
Different systems, and generally not compatable.
Had a coworker a few years ago take his work phone and turned it on, to use the camera.
Even though he said he didn't make cals, just used the camera, the second you turn it on (if not in airplane mode), it connects to cell service & searches for wi-fi.
Just a thought, might have changed.

@remo: I travel and bring my phone. Use local SIMs, Except in KR, then I just rent a phone.
I use local SIMs only because far-roaming is $$$.

Damn. T-Mobile says that I have to replace all of my phones.
I have three phones and a WiFi hotspot. I thought that I would at least be able to keep my Samsung Galaxy 6.
T-Mobile says that they are working around the clock to get replacement phones out to Sprint customers.
