The gold market doesn't believe it
Not even close to the largest source of gold anyway
There is believed to be about 20 million metric tons of gold in the ocean worth $1.1 quadrillion based on today’s gold prices. This is more than 12 times the entire world’s 2019 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at $87.55 trillion. The oceans have so much gold that every person on earth could have almost 6 pounds of it.
Just gotta figure out how to get that shit out the water!

Even if true, their people will still be broke, sick, starving, and homeless. Because the generals and tribal leaders will steal every last ounce of it.

@goebbels
As usual you are a shameless idiot. Gold in seawater is so diluted that there is only about a gram of gold for every 100 million metric tons of ocean water according to the National Ocean Service. In other words, inextricable.
It is good you are around. Whenever I am in the mood to give a spanking I have an eager bitch at hand.

@ Yellow, not so sure...... it is a presidential republic.
It is a former UK colony, so they did better in fostering independent strong trading markets than either the French or certainly the Spaniards.
At the end of the day, they likely won't be mining & extracting it themselves, so it depends on how friendly they are w/ the firms that do.
As long as they avoid the pitfalls of places like Venezuela, if they do have that gold, more power to them.

china is very excited to hear this

Are we talking about the same former UK colony that had Idi Amin as their leader, who took over in a coup?
If there's that much money in the ground, there will be another coup. And another one after that...until all of the gold and money is gone.

I read that Uganda just passed a law that the government takes 95% of mineral revenue
and the owner of the land only 5%.
Socialism at it's best.
