The club is likely dead and the owner not paying attention

You can pm the club owner requesting an invitation to the club, and maybe explaining why you want to join and what you have to contribute to the club. If you do pm the owner it would be nice to include a link to the club to more easily facilitate the process.
You might also look at the owner's network to see if there has been any recent activity. As mentioned earlier, some club members created their club years ago and they aren't very active on HX anymore. The club members themselves may be actively participating without the club owner being involved at all.
