OK. Gas prices. Nationalize the oil production like it is in the OPEC nations and then the US government can fix production/price and control exports and not leave that to corporations. Gas price problem solved.

You see, Republicans are good about blaming things on the Democrats, yet ask them how to fix it, and they have no answer. Why? Because they know that inflation is very difficult to control with any economic policy.
Inflation started because of Covid and how it affected the supply chain, especially from China. If you’ve visited Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, or Long Beach in mid-2020 while Trump was still in office, there were over 40 huge cargo ships that couldn’t be unloaded so they just sat there in port. There was actually deflation in early to mid 2020 because people weren’t buying things, however, once Covid subsided and demand increased, there was a bottleneck that was created by the supply chain disruption. When demand increased in 2021 and supplies were tight, prices were increased because there was way more demand than supply. Then people started driving more when things opened up and the demand for oil skyrocketed yet Saudi Arabia failed to increase production to meet the demand (intentionally forcing the price of oil up). Then add the war in Ukraine, and you have the inflation we are experiencing.
Raising interest rates is meant to curb demand, but it doesn’t always work.
And although I’m not really a fan of Biden, it really isn’t his fault and Republicans can’t do any better given the same circumstances. And they won’t do any better if they gain power.
But if the Republicans do gain power, it will be a disaster. It’s a dishonest group of losers who are hell bent on destroying democracy because they can’t win without cheating fuck them. We need real Patriots.

Real simple. Go back to the policies that Trump had going. Focus not on bullshit Green Deal....focus on energy independence. We can do both....continue the use of fossil fuels AND grow renewables, but need to include nuclear.
You don't tell the oil industry we are shutting you down, stop new leases, put all kinds of roadblocks with needed permits and wonder how the hell oil prices go up.
The handwriting for energy costs were set from Joe's first day. Much of inflation is due to all of the increases of everything we do that is tied to petroleum. There are millions of products that are MADE from petroleum and everything else is transported by petroleum. So no wonder inflation is here.

Listen to the quarterly earnings report for the oil companies and you will here them say in plain English that they are not going to increase production and they feel that this is going to see revenue and profits expand and plan to do stock buy backs with the windfalls instead of investing in exploration or renewable energy. Hence my prior comment about nationalizing the oil companies.
More proof that the right wing are muppets and believe whatever some grifter will tell them (i.e. Trump, Tucker, Hannity, Alex Jones, etc).

Oil stocks Shell (SHEL) and ConocoPhillips (COP) fell Thursday even though both companies reported above-forecast Q1 results. BP (BP) traded lower after reporting on Wednesday a massive profit for the first quarter amid an even larger write down on assets in Russia.
Meanwhile, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries on Thursday said it was not boosting output past an already planned modest increase to 432,000 barrels per day for next month. Crude oil prices popped above $110 a barrel intraday Thursday before settling for a 0.4% gain to $108.26. Crude is still up sharply for the week.
Before Thursday's overall market reversal, oil stock earnings received a sharp boost from the confluence of events that has pinned oil prices above $100 a barrel. While demand from China slows due to a prolonged lockdown in Shanghai, the EU is curbing Russian crude imports and mulling whether to completely ban Russian oil by year-end. And oil-producing members of OPEC+, which includes Russia, don't appear eager to fill the gap.
That's meant big profits for Western oil companies that have reported quarterly results so far this earnings season. Chevron (CVX) and Exxon Mobil (XOM) posted mixed results last week, while Devon Energy (DVN) and Diamondback Energy (FANG) topped views on Monday.
However, for the most part, they've opted to hike dividends and proceed with share buybacks while remaining cautious on spending in an inflation-fueled environment to increase oil production.

Why would they spend any additional revenue moving forward. Joe clearly said he was going to eliminate fossil fuel. If someone told you that they were closing down your business, I bet you would circle the wagons and make whatever profit you could before a new president can be elected and the energy policy changed.
The oil companies are not spending money on exploration, new wells, new leases, etc. So, more money drops to the bottom line and keeps investors from bailing.
