Would be nice to require training and skills from all gun owners.
But noooo. Apparently goes against what the founding fathers. Should always keep in mind the guys that sold and traded slaves and stole native american land.

^^
It always amazes me that people don't understand, "shall not be infringed"
I suppose Rrod would apply the same standard to other things...
Like to vote, you need to have minimal competency (might be a good idea actually)
To exercise freedom of speech, you must be licensed by the state and meet a background check. (as long as I'm in charge of determining who can speak or not, I'd be in favor of that)
I would suggest reading John Locke, might learn a thing or two about "natural rights" vs. Legal Rights.

The last comment on the thread: Good guy with gun stops mass shooter -
'So let me ask - Would the 2nd amendment people and the non 2nd amendment people agree to something like: If you own a gun and/or before you're allowed to buy a gun - whether it's a pistol or rifle, you have to take a gun safety course that would also include some time at a gun range using the weapon you're going to buy? If you already own guns then you have to re-qualify at a range every year or other year?
Would that satisfy most?
I'm just asking cause as a gun owner I wouldn't have a problem with that kind of regulation as I go to the range anyway and it's a pretty good idea to know how to handle a gun safely before you take it home from the gun shop or where ever you buy it.'
Atticus Finch
|
|
When you purchase a gun, you must show the salesman how to handle the gun.
It's not the good guy you have to worry about, it's the criminals, they DO NOT follow laws,
Let alone gun laws.
There should not be anymore more gun restrictions to law abiding Citizens.
The LIBTARDS NEED to figure out how to disarm the criminals in the blue cities.
|
|
Would be nice to require training and skills from all gun owners.
And you know most gun owners are clueless about handling and using their firearm?
Of course, the gang bangers and other criminals are taking the firearms training and gettng a certificate also.
|
|
they need to change some things buying a gun...the majority of the country wants that to happen
in the meantime...they can actually tighten up the shit they already have in place
have all the agencies communicate better...maybe even have a checklist they need to sign off on...hire more people, so shit doesn't fall thru the cracks
keep dangerous people in jail...if you don't care about that? everything else is kinda bullshit when it comes to keeping citizens safe...this extends to many many fucking things btw...where bullshit runs supreme
|
|
what i was trying to say is that it take a very well trained gun owner to stop a bad guy with a gun..
maybe us on the 2nd amendment could agree to something with training, how could it be bad for us to become better at carrying and utilizing a weapon.
to get a hunting license you need to take a safety course. (in calif)
not sure if hunting is protected in the constitution.
the course is very easy and takes half a day if i remember correctly.
i would not be opposed to it..
|
|
i'm up for people being trained for CCW...and refreshed/tested every few years (creates a few more jobs)...training/testing here would be like driving an 18wheeler
basic training for NEW owners of guns...show proficiency with small tests...like driving a car
|
|
Most gun owners I know, take a safety class voluntary.
We don't need the government to tell us what is good for us.
My Daughter just bought her 1st gun, first thing she did was attend safety class with her Boyfriend.
Most good people will learn how to use their firearms, but the problem is with the criminals.
If the government can't stop the criminals, stay the fuck away from law abiding Citizens.
|
|
And you know most gun owners are clueless about handling and using their firearm?
Really? Please tell us how you know this to be true. I have several guns and have a concealed carry permit for all of them. I have to requalify every 2 years for each of them. I have taken several courses on handling these guns and I know many others that do the same. So please tell us how you know your statement to be true or did you just pull it out of your ass as many anti-gun people do.
|
|
most probably do
so this would not impact you or daughter too much
trying to reach the people that are falling thru the cracks
the good thing is that most of them have been in the system one way or another, but still got thru. that shit needs tightening up...it's much better than totally random...gives a little hope it can be curtained/contrained

Maybe you should be more worried about criminals with guns,
I sure most took safety classes.

"^^
How can you be so obtuse ? Is it deliberate?!"
So, this is what this idiot posted after I gave him the links to gun regulations in all 50 states.
Apparently, he does NOT like it when you provide the information that he's complaining about.
Fucking broke-back woke-fucked Marxist imbecile who couldn't give a shit about facts or data.
If he feels it, that means it real!!!
|
|
You know LIBTARDS hate facts...
|
|
@ Atticus, I'm with you on many things, but this one you are off the reservation. IMHO
"shall not be infringed"
That's straight forward enough..... isn't it?
By my way of thinking, criminals don't need to show any kind of compentcy, waiting period etc.
We had less of a problem when we had fewer gun laws, as you didn't know who was armed.
the ONLY way I would be in favor of ANY kind of restrictions is if I get to limit people's first amendment right.
Far too many people "shoot their mouths" off without any kind of training nor education.
;-)
|
|
I'd say this about certification versus shall not be infringed.
Government in more than one instance has proven to the citizen that it cannot be trusted when it comes to the second amendment.
Ask how the people of New Orleans how many of them got their guns back after Katrina.
How many people have been denied conceal carry permits because a sheriff just didn't think they needed one.
If government worked in good faith with the citizen then mayyyyybe I'd be like where do I sign up .... but they don't therfore you get the arguments and no solutions.
|
|
Remo, here's the thing - SOMETHING'S going to get done if things keep going the way they're going. So both groups have to either come together OR it'll get done without any input from gun owners. I have no problem taking a gun safety class for half a day every other year then spending another hour or 2 at the range to prove my proficiency, great I get to go shoot stuff!, if that's going to calm the rhetoric.
I don't give a flying fuck what bangers or criminals do. Like it or not both groups have to open a dialogue or one side or the other are going to get run over at some point.
Personally I'd like to have some input in what ever they come up with and if this satisfies them awesome!

"When you purchase a gun, you must show the salesman how to handle the gun."
================================
LMAO. come on..
I bought a gun so aware of the motions required to take the gun home. Its a joke.
|
|
It always amazes me that people don't understand, "shall not be infringed"
====================================================
again..the consensus is to not ban guns.
Nobody is talking about taking away your rights to own a gun.
|

Lol lots of people are talking about taking away our guns.

Lol lots of people are talking about taking away our guns.
======================
Yea the idiots. Please dont pay attention to these peeps. Its a pie in the sky.
Reminds me of the Abolish the Police. Its not happening.
Simple reasonable gun control measures. The gun nuts cannot even agree on ghost guns and 3D printer guns are bad. Its insane.

Thank god there were 400 good guys with guns at Uvalde. Otherwise that would have been a fucking massacre.
|
|
^ uhhh yeah about that.
A bunch of numbfucks for the last few years have questioned everything from traffic stops to open and shut self defense cases. Questioning the validity of the most mundane of the police actions and then burn down cities if you find anything questionable. Your fist cause may have had validity but many of the demonstrations are and have been based upon misunderstanding and outright lies.
And you wonder why the dumb fuck in charge in Uvalde failed execute his duties. He was sitting his pants cus he knew NO MATTER WHAT someone was going to question his actions. I'd have said fuck all and attempted to get the job done.... but this guy waited for men to step up.
Something that there is no doubt in my mind you wouldn't have done....just like those you point the finger at.

Drooped the shooter within 20 seconds from 40 yards away hitting 8 of 10 from a compact glock. Fuckin baller

Yeah the politicians and Media would rather have the kid not shoot the fucking or a dozen more people would be fucking killed… That’s always the lefts fucking answer cause They haven’t got any logic or common sense or fucking brains goddamn morons!

The key is that he was GOOD with a gun. And had guts.
Generally, there are problems caused by those who lack skill or guts, or both.
As described by Peter Kruger,
Here’s the original quote, in context:
An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.
In Beyond This Horizon, the world Heinlein creates is a post-scarcity utopia, somewhat like Roddenberry’s Star Trek. Poverty, war, disease, conflict, even aging have been tamed and defeated. Genetic modification is normal to make all people perfect specimens. There is no want in this world. Every need is met. Nobody does a single thing they do not want to do.
And people are bored of it. They’re bored, immortal supermen. Bumping around into other bored, immortal supermen. All the time.
What follows is a thought experiment. It’s an exercise in what Freud called “the narcissism of minor differences.”
Because people are bored and face no adversity and human nature itself remains unchanged, people simply end up getting offended over increasingly trivial matters. They get offended over mere slights of etiquette and protocol.
Because every person is a perfect human specimen, eventually dueling with sidearms becomes the means to settle interpersonal conflict. Every person wears a firearm at all times. In fact, to not have a firearm is a mark of shame; those who do not have a gun are shunned as pariahs.
Why must you be polite in this society?
Because every interaction that is not perfectly mannered could require a duel to the death between otherwise immortal supermen.

When I'm advocating for some kind of gun control, I want to be clear I'm not advocating for taking everyone's guns away or taking all guns away from everyone. Not even close.
I just want to be clear on that.

This guy in Indiana is like this year's Kyle Rittenhouse only the media is probably fuming they cant smear him the way they did Kyle.
The media has learned their lessons.
I agree people should attend gun training admistered by states but on the flip side your going to have blue states making shit unecessarily difficult. That's the slippery slope where 'shall not infringe' comes in.
It's an administrative gray area that test the will of the people and the true intentions of government.

"This guy in Indiana is like this year's Kyle Rittenhouse only the media is probably fuming they cant smear him the way they did Kyle"
JFC
That Rittenhouse kid is a fucking scumbag that came looking for trouble. How dare you compare this POS with the guy with the hero dude.
Rittenhouse is going to end up like the Zimmerman dude. Signing autographs for white supremacists on his victims' death anniversaries cause he cant maintain a normal life.

“Apparently goes against what the founding fathers. Should always keep in mind the guys that sold and traded slaves and stole native american land.”
Another interesting fact. Gun control originated from racists who wanted to prevent black people from being able to defend themselves during the Jim Crow era.
|
|
^ it was a black citizen in Chicago that won a key case in the last few years.
He just wanted to protect his home from bangers
City of Chicago thought it was better he get terrorized and shot by people who pay no attention to the law.
Progressives are worthless except for target practice.

"And you know most gun owners are clueless about handling and using their firearm?"
Please reread my comment. If you look closely, it was a 'question'. I was directing it in a 'mocking' way to Rrod who had commented "Would be nice to require training and skills from all gun owners."
He is who YOU needed to direct your comment toward. I was pointing out his lack of knowledge of what many if not most gun owners actually do...that they are NOT clueless about handling and using their firearms.
And then I made the comment that gang bangers and criminals are taking the training....

@ Atticus.
Here's the thing:
There will NEVER be compromise.
There are far too many people on the left that want total gun confiscation, who think rights come from the government, and consequently can be taken away by government.
It's a death by a thousand cuts, give an inch, more than an inch is taken.
The left will NOT compromise, it will always be shrouded in semantics, a Chinese water torture of constant dripping, eroding of freedom.
Sun Tzu would appreciate the left's deception in pursuit of victory.
The right to defend one's self is an absolute, it has no compromise.
|
|
each side to exact their pound of flesh or better yet, use it in upcoming elections
|

+1 Remo
Never give an inch to a Progressive, they will take everything else attached to that inch
These are basically Neo-Marxists who believe that the ends justifies the means
They will couch their program in pretty words that are essentially meaningless
Social justice, Black Lives Matter, Equity, Diversity, Human Rights.......
Don't be fooled, they don't actually give a shit about any of that
They hate Liberalism implicitly because that means freedom and they don't want you to have that
Unless it's freedom under their rules only
ESG investing, same garbage......meaningless marketing bullshit.
Don't be fooled, use Progressives for target practice
That is their only function.......
Except if you get them on the ground face down
Then GoBallsDeep on them...........repeatedly...............then do it again
|
|
here's the hero
|
|
Perspective........
The FBI estimates that there are around 20,000 right wing militia members
These are mostly extremists that should be put down like rabid dogs
Now add up all the SEIU members, College instructors & Administrators, Antifa, etc and you have hundreds of thousands or even millions of fifth column Neo-Marxists who also need to be put down en masse.
By their sheer numbers and overall effect thru our educational system & bureaucracy, these anarcho-socialist partisan ideologues are more dangerous than the righty tighties........and we have more than a few on this site
Bottom line is they all need to be loaded onto SpaceX and shot into the sun!
What a great 4th of July fireworks display that would be!

"The gun nuts cannot even agree on ghost guns and 3D printer guns are bad. Its insane."
OOkkkkkk....how's about answering this question....
How do you outlaw computer code ? That is how more and more ghost guns will be made. Get a laptop and access to a cnc machine or 3d printer and bam you got whatever you want. I realize you think it's too easy to get a gun these days.... if it's easy for an ordinary citizen how easy do you think it is for a person who is DETERMINED to kill someone else?
Making it against the law WILL NOT stop anyone determined to kill. You will just possibly make it less convenient and more like the target is unable to defend themselves.
The problem isn't the weapon it's the stupid fucks making the rest of society easier targets for crime.

^ uhhh prosecute the well meaning perpetrator just as you would anyone who is responsible for loss of life ...the laws are on the books. Its not rocket science. Also the first reporting of a news worthy incident is rarely the whole story.

Good guys with guns? That's exactly what happened on D-Day good guys with guns, most of them were 18 to 22 years old. But of course they are white so they must have been evil.
|
|
Most of you are in California where requiewments for CCW are generally absurdly high. For places like Texas, that allow purchase and ccw without a background check depending on where you buy the gun, this is a real problem. This does affect Californians because they can just carry the gun in state and they're not limited by California's stupid roster. I am in favor of allowing most people to carry a gun (exceptions for convicted felons and people with recent history of mental illness) but for enhanced monitoring of gun owners and enforcing regular training to maintain your permits. Everyone should have the right to carry a gun bar those specific circumstances, but the government has the right and a duty to make sure they are using the guns responsibly and not causing trouble.
|
|
that dude should be prosecuted like a motherfucker...at least to the extent the cop in minn. was...for taking out the wrong gun
scot-free should not be happening here
|
|
^ Dude is gonna have no life. A grand jury refused to indict so he isn't gonna be consoled for the next 50 years but you know what is going to happen... a jury of his peers is going to find him civil responsible and he will have nothing to call his own for the rest of his life.
You know what effect that will have on the ordinary citizen .... they will be forced to think twice about the the action of pointing and shooting a gun....what will happen to others and themselves.... you wanna know what effect it will have on the criminal population? ..... it won't have any effect they will still do what they do.... but that criminal he doesn't care he got his 20 bucks and a little girl died solely because he did what he did.

*Cornholed not consoled

Glad you have this issue solved.
