Lompoc is a great place to watch the Vandenberg rocket launches.
Jalama Beach is a nearby, and a great, remote camping beach.

Actually Lompoc's a nice little town - less then 50k people, gets the ocean breeze every evening. Doesn't get too hot or cold. Plenty of land in the surrounding areas. Close to Pismo and morrow and slo.

In my younger surfing days, before my hairline receded and my waistline expanded, I surfed the South swells Tarantulas at Jalama. Awesome left break, but pretty cold water afterwards we'd go into Lompoc to the Tasteefreeze - Good Memories!

I saw my first grate white surfing T's on my 7'6" single fin no leash in 1976 that large south swell with 4 guys out the white was about 12 foot long and don't forget about Jalama burger just like In and Out
good times.
