Um, Orange county is a large area.
Airport area - lots of choices
Disneyland area, lots of choices
Then there is:
Fashion Island
Irvine Spectrum
North OC
Off the 55 Freeway there is a street literately called
Hotel Terrace -
Take your pic.
Price range, amenities, tower, campus style, you didn't give much to go by.

There's no fun in OC
Drive to LA where you can get robbed and assaulted
Good times!

Stick with either Hilton or Marriott properties.

Make sure you get a nice one. It always feels sketchy to me going into less-than-stellar ones.

Stay away from the hotels on Newport Blvd on either side of the 55 fwy between 22nd to Ford St.
Le hot and due to the City cracking down on them the hotels choose to tip off le whom they think
is working or illegal activity.
I know 3 gals who I told not to stay there in the past two weeks decided to stay there and we're asked to leave.

Better to stay in upper end south oc or higher end redondo manhattan beach with rates of 250/day. Higher friends will visit you. U will be better off. Never go cheao when renting hotels. You friends will visit you more in a high end place.. my commentaries regarding me state my choice of luxurious rentals when on travel.

1. Ali Baba hotel is still there.
2. Hotel terrace is the best area. They leave you alone, and many hotels to choose from.

I think you nailed it. All those are ideal location. They are nice and safe location with easy parking.
Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach are actually in Los Ángeles county.
