Your frustration is not entirely hard to sympathize with, however, in the matter of Griner it is harder. The base salary of an nba player is like 5 million compared to 120,000 for a WNBA player. Griner makes more than that, like 200,000, but she can make 1 million a year by playing in Russia.
So ask yourself. If your boss told you I will give you a 400 percent pay raise to work in Russia for 3 or 4 months a year, would you not think about it? Would you not possibly say yes? A lot of people would. I would suggest most people would. I do not know what I would say because I do not work for anyone and do not need more money than I have, but I would not castigate anyone for agreeing to that admirable offer.
Maybe we should pay women better who do the same jobs as men only do it better. Look at the womens soccer team. They win. The men do not. But the men get paid more. I always thought capitalism rewards the winners. But I guess it rewards the men who are not as good as women.

I do understand that people already making a decent living will do incredibly dumb things to make more money.
But my awareness of the fact doesn't make it a better decision. It is still a stupid thing to do.
I have never made $100,000 in one year in my life, and I would still not even consider going to one of those shithole countries for any amount of money. I prioritize my health and safety too highly.
However, I would have gone for my country if ordered to do so when I was in the military.

But you cannot behave as you would here - it's their country - their rules.
If you can't abide by it, they have every right to do what they think is best.
Get busted for pot - expect to pay the price if it's illegal in that country.

HIgh rise iron workers make good money

But those jobs fall into the highest rate of fatalities. So you probably would consider ALL consequences.

Not sure why people travel to foreign countries and NOT know what the laws are in those countries.
Not all countries grant as much freedom and liberty as we do. And maybe that is why millions of immigrants want to come here.
I understand she claimed she 'rushed' in packing.....I think i know what I have in my luggage and am not 'surprised' by something left over from a previous trip.
