Car Ownership to be Outlawed and you will like it.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is calling for an end to private car ownership. A recently published paper calls for an end to "wasteful" private vehicle ownership in favor of public transportation and communal cars.

Why is Big Oil so quiet on this ?

Which ties into

How Close Is America to a Civil War? and much more.

LOL @ Public transit in Socal.

Ya if I could take a train to my office in Irvine from my house in Fullerton, I totally would!

Fullerton station drops off by the 5 points amphitheater then I have a healthy 5 mile walk from there. Public transit sucks here.

Yeah, the LA light rails go everywhere. To get to work 30 miles one way, which would take me 1 hr in LA traffic. It would take 4 transfers (2 buses and 2 trains) and 2.5 hrs for that same trip.
No private car ownership is a very distant dream.

The sad thing is we had all the infrastructure already in place in the early 1900s.

L.A. had the infrastructure in the 40's & 50's - the Red line.
That's what Roger Rabbit was about. It was actually based on the dismantling of the public transit system of LA.

True but the infrastructure was still in place.
That's the point.

The World Economic Forum can blather all they want.

If ANY level of government here ever attempted to implement this insanity, they would get a crash course in Ancient Greek. First two words: MOLON LABE. Yes, cars can be weapons . . . .

In the '60s, Disneyland suggested a monorail line that would run down the middle of the % Freeway to downtown L.A. and back. Disney didn't want to pay all of the tab, and the city/county eventually shot the idea down since it would require signoffs from several cities and counties. It was also an express, from OC to DTLA and back, with no stops.

I recall politicians saying that a monorail would be superfluous since the city/state was expanding the freeway system. Famous last words. We have a subway now and trains on various freeways. but it still hasn't stopped traffic from being an enormous issue in L.A. and for climate change supporters.

Instead Disney had Helicopters that flew from LAX to what use to be part of the Driving Range / Mini Golf / Arcade. A good friend of mines WW2 father flew those back then and we would run out of the Arcade to watch it land. Little did I know his father was the pilot at the time. It was 20 years later I found out. Now look at it. Nothing but a huge 5 level parking structure.

This is why you dont significantly scale back domestic fossil fuel production before shifting to green energy sources and transportation.
