Russell, Nichols, Scully
They always come (or go) in threes
I was glad to hear it was Scully and not me
Can the next three be
Biden, Harris, Pelosi?
Please Allah,, I beg of thee
Oh merciful and just God of the Towel Heads
Make them suffer as much as they've made me suffer.
I know you'll do the right thing and thank you
For making them hurt.....real bad

He had a way with words, stories, and humor to literally bring the game to you thru a transistor radio. In fact you could hear people with their transistors blasting at the ballpark itself . He could capture the unique character of every game simply with his words and phrases and the inflection of his voice.
In many ways he was Dodger baseball.
Too many games to try and recount.
But easily the most universally loved man.
So Cal was blessed to have him for so long.
Definitely a sad day.
What a life he had. We should all be so lucky.
I think Vin Scully epitomizes that saying, "Make a career of something you enjoy and you'll never work a day in your life!" He loved the game, he loved his Dodgers, and he loved the fans. What a class act.

Goebbels your only valid contribution to society would be as a psychological lab rat. I have a colleague at the Mayo Clinic who has actually started a file on you. You may prove useful yet, despite yourself.
Wow I didn't even know Farmer John is bailing out of CA.
I just saw the LA Times story...
"The Virginia-based company (Smithfield) said that this step is necessary due to “the escalating cost of doing business in California.”
The fate of the building has yet to be determined. “We are exploring all our options,” said Jim Monroe, vice president of corporate affairs for Smithfield.
Yet, he added, “Farmer John is alive and well, and we will be providing the great, healthy, nutritious products that Farmer John customers have come to expect” but from another location."
I completely forgot that Vinny called the '84 world series between the Tigers and Pads.
The Tigers were up 3 - 1 going into the 5th game and Vin & Joe Garagiola had called all the games and were calling this one.
It was the bottom of 8th and the Tigers were up and leading by 1: 5 - 4. They had runners at 2nd & 3rd and Goose Gossage was on the mound. Coming up to the plate ... Kirk Gibson!
Padres catcher held up 4 fingers to Gossage then Dick Williams came out of the dug out and there was a conference at the mound and, in the replay you can see Gossage say 'I can get him'. He convinced Williams then proceeded to pitch to Gibby.
First pitch was inside - Ball 1.
2nd pitch - belt high & inside and ... Gibby got all of it and sent it into the 2nd tier of the right field stands to give the Tigers a 4 run lead who went on to win the '84 world series.
Interesting story, told by Vinny - when Gibby first came up his first at bat was against Gossage and he struck out on 3 pitches. According to Sparky Anderson, Gossage blew Gibby away on that at bat.
4 years later Vinny was calling another Gibby home run in '88 and again in the World Series.
I'm going to miss those stories and anecdotes that Vin used to tell. They made the game so much more interesting and fun.
