Today’s sentence was expected. Putin would force the judge to give her the maximum sentence to increase his bargaining power with the US in a prisoner trade.
Again, all of this was expected.
Prediction: Alex Jones will come out and claim she doesn’t even exist, that she isn’t a real person and certainly not in Russia, and that all of this is a hoax.

It is about understanding that foreign nations have their own laws and regulations and many are far more stringent and onerous than those in this country. Some of those same countries might not have a very fair judicial process and conviction is almost guaranteed.
So, don't do stupid shit like break their laws, and maybe you will also in the process feel just a tad bit better about this country and how good we have it.

I can empathize with her a little. Just a couple of years ago I went to Seattle and took an overnight bag that I normally use for local travel. About a month after that trip I was going through that bag and realized that it contained a box cutter, pocket knife, and a corkscrew wine opener. It seems that I had taken those things through TSA on both legs of that trip to Seattle without being caught. So it does happen sometimes. But going to Russia, for any reason, should cause a person to double check everything!
