The cancel fee is minimal. The part that bothers me is that after ready numberous complaints and bbb reviews is that this a common theme. they intimidate people with bogus reasons and then put blame on the customer. I have filed complaints with my cc company who said they are currently investigating this particular lax companies ratio of normal cancel fees to those that are exuberant. Example although extreme is a dentist that was drilling holes in patients mouths that had good back teeth. He is now in prison. I feel shady operations are going to come on the media once the investigation on this pathetic rental company is discovered. especially the normal ratio of cancel fees to abnormal

$350+ per hour for a $50 refund doesn't have good upside potential.

Most likely the fine print in your rental agreement forces you to arbitrate the matter. If so, that same fine print will state where to file. Your best bet is to make a detailed argument with the credit card company in that you contracted for a specific type of vehicle, forgoing the opportunity of contracting elsewhere and you were damage through car rental's company's fraud. They should not be able to profit from their deception. Even if they argue that they had the ability to substitute a cheaper vehicle, they should not advertise at the same level as other companies without some type of warning that they don't provide equivalent service.
BTW - Consider voting for administrations that fine businesses that rip-off consumers when these things happen so you don't have to fight these battles on your own.
