The claim justifying the warrant is broad and probably non specific and the information that will lead to any legal action will probably not even be remotely close to the stated reason for the warrant. ^ According to the latest news directly from Garland, he wants to disclose the contents of the warrant. If there was an issue of possible nuclear secrets being in the safe then I'm pretty sure that the judge will not allow it. But Garland called Trump's bluff by asking for it.
It is unheard of for ANY judge to grant a search warrant for a former president.
For ANY attorney general to personally approve of an application for a warrant is highly irregular.
For both of these circumstances to exist, the allegations had to be ultra-serious. Nuclear secrets would certainly qualify. Whether or not the FBI actually found anything is almost immaterial - the mere allegation made by someone (informant) demanded that they investigate by looking at the contents of that safe first-hand. To do anything less would have been a severe dereliction of duty!
One interesting point: if nuclear secrets were the focus, regular FBI agents would not have been conducting the warrant - it would have been counter-intelligence agents of the FBI doing it. Only they would have the necessary security clearances to even hold top-secret files of that nature in their hands.
Unfortunately releasing the warrant will not satisfy anyone. They need to release the affidavit supporting the request for the warrant. As Garland said yesterday it's the DOJ's practice to seek the least intrusive way get the info they are looking for. So, what in the affidavit supports a raid over a subpoena? Inquiring minds want to know. But don't hold your breath.

The problem with most code-word secret documents (above the top secret level) is that knowledge of their mere existence is considered a problem. Hence, it becomes difficult to prosecute someone for mis-handling that sort of information without exposing the existence of the information in the first place (e.g., evidence in court). We may never hear of the actual concerns that the DOJ had beyond "highly classified materials." And given the reluctance to prosecute a former president, I think the DOJ will be satisfied with just getting control of those documents back. Of course, this will feed the conspiracy theorists when the investigation suddenly goes silent.

First, the retard famously doesn’t read; they needed to summarize documents on no more than one sheet of paper for him to read it, and even then he wouldn’t read much of what he should have read.
Second, why do you think he had those documents? He was specifically told to return all documents in his possession, he gave back 15 boxes, yet kept an additional 12 or so boxes of top secret documents? Why? It took an informant alerting the FBI to get the documents back.
Third, both Kushner and Mnuchin have multi-billion dollar funding deals through the Saudis, which is obviously suspect from the start. Those deals likely come with strings. Maybe giving them nuclear secrets was part of those deals. Why else was the warrant partially based on the Espionage Act? This is crazy shit.
Fourth, each crime comes with 10 to 20-year sentences, and they add those sentences together. That’s how serious this is.
