Federal Judge is both right and wrong.
Limiting convos in workplaces is clearly a 1st Amendment breach
Limiting convos in schools is a more difficult issue.
Public schools are, by their very definition, paid for by government from taxpayer funds
If a law limiting what is said is a 1st Amendment breach, then one would have to review the source of and methodology of what IS approved for use in the "publicly paid" arena.
A quick review of the University networks used to "teach teachers", such as the University of Wisconsin publicly funded units, one would find that "critical pedagogy" created and promulgated by Marxist activists is now the "approved teaching method". This bastardization of Marxian theory is now being used as the basis of teaching methodology for schools from the University level down.
While DeSantis' law is mostly a marketing tool for him as a Prez contender, it's a shot that is resonating with a lot of people who're watching the destruction from the "inside" of our educational system. One that will have to be addressed in some fashion............other than a blog on HX, I guess.
But, nice post!

Allow me to add that ever since the pandemic, parents are now way more in tune with the bullshit being taught in our "public" schools.
Many are voting with their feet and uteri.
LAUSD attendance down from 700,000 to 450,000..........time to close a bunch of schools and fire a lot of Marxist teachers.

@GBD, I think you are exaggerating the drop in enrollment in the LAUSD. But I get your point.
According to an article by Fox News, there was a 11% drop in attendance on the first day of
school. Approximately 50K students didn't show up.
Last year there was a 6% drop in attendance. Approximately 27k students.

His numbers are accurate, but the timeline is wrong.
LAUSD had 737,000 students 21 years ago. They are now at around 430,000, but further expect that number to fall to 309,000 in the next 9 years, a 30% drop in 9 years.
Overcrowding back then and current poor quality of education is driving people to both leave the district or enroll in private schools.

In re: Marxist teachings
What is the difference between education and brainwashing? It can be summed up in one word: "Intent"
"Repetition is the foundation of clarity!" - Confucius
The exact same techniques are used for both. So a claim of Marxism is a little unfair.

parents are definitely in tune now
the virus had a FEW positives
-let the world know how unprepared it was...MAYBE get better prepared for a more deadly virus.
-parents more engaged in this education thingy and all the ugly politics involved
-golden-billion have their eyes more open on china and their ways
probably lots of other things
the dems might add, it got rid of trump

There is both censorship on the left and the right. But it has to stop at some point. When one hears about the banning (or prospective banning) of the Diary of Anne Frank, the Handmaids Tale, Catcher in the Rye, books by Toni Morrison, to Kill a Mockingbird ,etc. one must be concerned about the spectre of national socialism. If and when this leads to book burning it might be too late. So whatever one thinks of the Judge's decision in Florida, we must be wary where this drive for censorship might end.

Boogie man
I should've put a time frame on that drop but you can google the info easily enough.
Since the pandemic, LAUSD enrollment has dropped 270,000
My drop numbers were over the last 20 years with another expected drop of 30% over the next decade.

"So a claim of Marxism is a little unfair."
Huh? Not at all, are you saying that doing your times table repeatedly is the same as determining which racial or gender group is responsible for oppression?
You are mightily confused by what's happening in modern education.
See the links for PDF articles in "Academia" and just look at the headings, lol
Then get a good book on "Critical Theory", it's basis in Marxian/Hegelian writing
Read up a bit on Marxist Paulo Freire
Please tell me how "unfair" I am, lol
Here's just a few tidbits from the WSJ on the topic:
"The Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty has reviewed the required coursework for 14 programs for teachers-to-be in the Badger State. These programs produce about 80% of all teaching graduates in the state each year. What they found was shocking. Worldview building and ideological manipulation take precedence over teacher preparation.
On the syllabi, noticeably lacking are academic literature or manuals of classroom instruction. Instead, Hollywood movies like “Freedom Writers,” popular books like Jonathan Kozol’s “Letters to a Young Teacher,” and propaganda like “Anti-Racist Baby” abound. In place of academic essays, graduate students write personal poems or collect photographs. These kitschy activities infantilize what ought to be a rigorous pursuit of professional competency."
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls defines education as a “social justice and change agent.” The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point commits to “anti-racism.” Each program exhibits a philosophy of education called critical pedagogy, made popular by Brazilian Marxist Paulo Freire, that envisions schools as places not of academic instruction but of societal change.
Freire, one of the authors assigned most often in schools of education, mapped the oppressor-oppressed dichotomy onto the teacher-student relationship and advocated for what he believed was a liberatory education. He cited the Maoist and Leninist Revolutions as ideals of his thought in action. Where Freire shifts from Marxist ramblings to practical advice, he encourages teachers to spur their students toward discontent with the world around them.

Most people who claim to be Marxist have no clue what Marxism really is. That goes for the right and left.

Please enlighten us all

I doubt many on the right claim to be marxist.

Ron DeSantis is a nazi. The idiot fired the state attorney because he would not prosecute people under Florida's new abortion law. He's also an anti science guy. This is the loser Republicans want to replace Trump? What a pathetic candidate.
