has a chance to get 3billion bucks...dude will be just fine(decent investment)...maybe a bit sick with one playoff in 13 years? is that what it said? holy shit
|
|
Of course he'll be fine he's making a shit ton.
The important thing is that the team should be even better off depending on who buys them.
If the new owner comes in an cleans house on the front office, puts the analytics department on notice that they're only there to advise and clean up some of the worthless contracts the team should be better off if not prosper.
But they need SO much! Front office alone will take a while to find the right people.

we need the owners of the dodgers to buy em...then they can compete with each other
think good time to EXIT money and age-wise. maybe if that development didn't blow up? he woulda stuck it out another few years
thought that was like a 30-year project...pretty much like the angels
i always root for the owners...maybe it's a modern-day slavery-type thing?
some i don't root for anymore...unless they are up against bron...will be forced into it

Must have thrown in the towel and figured it's time to cash out after his sweetheart deal with the mayor got blown up.

A New owner could be Worse or it could get better. You never know. Do you know the prices of Dodger, Yankee or Mets tickets? Way more expensive than Angels tickets! Do you know the price of a Dodger Dog vs. and Angel Dog? Way More! A new owner might raise all prices! Now Ohtani will be gone next year because Artie wont spend because he's selling the team and we will have to wait until a new owner starts spending money. IF he's Rich and spends like the Mets, Dodgers or Yankees we will be happy. If he's a cheap ass owner he will sell off the entire team and we will have the lowest payroll in baseball like the Marlins or lose 100 games for 5 years Hoping we turn into what the Astros are or what the Cubs did! Can You fans stand losing 100 games a year for 5 years? The owner could move the team to Long Beach or Vegas. Will fans be Happy then? There's So many ways this can go! Who knows when a sale with happen? Be careful what you wish for. All we can do is Pray 🙏😇⚾️

i liked and rooted for ARTE...shit didn't work out
maybe if 500m of contracts could eke out a hit in the KC series...it would have unlocked something in the team...that not on him
getting albert was the KEY to the obscene TV contract at the time. so that was necessary. for a few years they were bringing in almost as much as the top two teams in TV revenue...while everyone else was WAY down the list

The parking lot attendant that owned (& screwed up the Dodgers) would be a worse owner. Hopefully the sale doesn't go to a misfit like him. After someone ponies up 2 to 3 billion bucks, there may not be much left for front office and player salaries. Might be a good time to start investing in the brown paper bags for "unknown fans". Prolly don't want peeps knowing you wasted money going to see the Angels.....

Maybe Steve Ballmer will be enticed to throw down 3 Billion and own a MLB team
|
|
Logistics wise, moving to Long Beach would suck with the freeways, but you’d be on the water and can semi be legit for the LOs Angeles name (more so than Anaheim/OC based).
|
|
funny...I didn't even think of balmer
he'd be absolutely perfect
|
|
might have to root for clips if he bought the angels
that'd be a little easier if bron still on the team
|
|
Maybe Disney will get back in the sports business...they did win a World Series in 2002 the last time they owned the Angels.
Also, Peter O'Malley had a group assembled and tried to buy the Padres several years back.
Lastly, the Angels are NOT leaving OC. They are top 5 in MLB attendance, behind the Doyers, Cards, Yanks, and Cubbies. They won't mess that up by moving to Vegas or the LBC. 3 million fans is nothing to shake a stick at!
Hope the new owner does to the Big A what the Doyers did to their stadium, long overdue for a remodel. Adn $10 Cokes and Dogs, and $20 cans of beer are coming soon!

if that deal didn't blow up...he'd stuck around few more years.
he personally woulda kept the real estate portion of it all
balmer could do the same thing...maybe the city would like his plans/price better
|

They completely fucked up Dodger stadium with that remodel.
If I could buy the team the first thing I'd do, after clearing out the fo, would find a place for the team to play for the next couple of years and tear the stadium down. Then rebuild it to the specs of the original stadium complete with the large foul territory it originally had and get rid of that ridiculous angle in left and right field.
The only thing I'd change is to add another 3" - 6" to the seat aisles to make it easier to get to your seat and not feel like you were going to fall forward. It'd definitely help especially on the 2nd & 3rd tier.

maybe we could share dodger stadium for few years
or get the chinese in here to build it in the off-season
|
|
Sorry I was talking about Dodger stadium, although the big a could use a face/field lift.
You know if Balmer buys the team chances are he'd build a new stadium. Only question would be is where. Would he tear down the big a and rebuild on site or would he move the team and if he moves them where does he move them? Carson? Downy? Pasadena?
Actually over by the rose bowl wouldn't be a bad idea if there was land available.
If he did that at least they'd fit the name for once.

based on how he handled the clipper build and dealing with the dude from NY...which was exactly as i said should be handled
he would do great in anaheim...make that ARTE plan even better...for the city, much much faster
he's got the money...where he could be ok not having 3m fans for two years...maybe play the games at HB HS if need be
but dodgers and angels should work a mutual DEAL...where they get to use each other's stadium for two years while theirs gets a total rebuild. comes with RENT and whatever else it needs to...dodgers might insist on getting rid of LA?
i do think it raised the value...so that might not happen.
balmer could be the guy to make all that happen. ARTE? not with the dodgers
|
|
Well the Rose bowl is pretty close to Chavez - just a short drive down the 2 to the 5 then get off on Stadium Way.
Actually the more I think about it the more sense it makes.
I think artie bought the big a, no? If Balmer bought the team and moved them to Pas, he would still own that big a area and could then turn it into commercial & residential and over populate the oc even more and add to the traffic.
It's a win - win!

that big great real estate deal blew up
might be part of the reason he's looking to get out...and probably 3b is being wispered
|
|
3b makes decent sense if you could build up the space around it
team by itself?
|
|
3b would have to be for team and stadium.
Then if they move to Pas they can play there until new stadium's done. Once it's done tear it down and build multi - use residential/commercial.
It's freeway close and you'd have a ton of restaurants and stores in the area if you did it right. And you have several colleges and universities in the area so if you did apartments you'd definitely have renters.
Plus that area of Pas is A LOT nicer then anaslime, although when it was nothing but orange groves it was a pretty nice place.

he bought it...but pretty sure didn't go thru
yes, if you can JERRYJONES it...3bill would be tuff
though JJ does not own the stadium so things are possible without it also...just need to follow the blue print
|
|
The Angels are OC! Never Fucking LA and NOT Pasadena! The Dodgers won't let them move any closer to them either! Fuck Driving 2 and a half hours to Pasadena for a Friday night game! 😡
|
|
Artie's gonna start rolling out the Ohtani stadium giveaways on both their ways out!
|
|
They started out in L.A.
Too, if they're 'oc' then change the fucking name!!!
And I'm sure if they moved to Pas Balmer wouldn't care if you went to games or not. There'd be a lot of others that would.
