I know it's a longshot, but I'm looking for someone with a scissor lift or some type of lift

Maybe you can refer me to a rental place or if you own one, I have a rather interesting proposition for you. Please send me a PM or a text 626.344.2498- or both!

Oh yeah- I need to use it in Lynwood, which is Los Angeles County.

My ex neighbor had one for his business, but he moved out of state. From your pics, united rentals and buffalo rental have those for rent.

Unfortunately I'm not in California right now cause I've got 3 scissor lifts and a couple of boom lifts.

Try US rentals or any other commercial rental yards.

You may be able to rent one for somewhere around $150 - $200/day for a scissor lift depending on the size. Double that for a boom lift.

El Cheapo you can rent a 19' scissor lift for about $320 delivered and picked up after use.

If you rent it on Friday morning and call for pick up before closing Friday,
they won't charge you for Sat & Sunday. They will pick the lift on Monday.
They are closed over the weekend.

I am looking to throw a proposal at someone who has one,, that I think could be kind of a win/win situation for both of us. I am not looking to rent the equipment for free, but I am hoping for possibly a discounted rate, or at least delivery and pick-up of the unit, and I would like for it ti be set up fir me. It is for my parents' avocado tree. It is a "bacon avocado" tree, enormous and with what could be at least a couple hundred avocados that I am not able to reach, not even with the 30ft doca pole I got my dad. I'd be willing to split the avocados I pick right down the middle with the owner of the lift, whether or not he/she chooses to help me pick them, AND pay 100 -150 for the rental. I am tired of so many avocados going to waste every year!

I have seen the tree. It is very healthy and happy. I have also had many avocados from this tree over several years time. I love avocados and have been eating them my whole life. Even had 2 trees in the backyard of one of my chidhood homes. But the avocados from the tree at Mystees parents house are by far the best I have ever had. They are the creamest, smoothest and most delish. And for sure the largest ones without being stringy I have seen. These are so yummy you can almost taste the high fat content in them.

No joke people, these are the best avocados you will ever taste! And yes, the tree is extra tall.

After picking avocados for years as a teen, a ladder with a canvas bag over your shoulder is really the only wayyou need to prune the fruit not pull it

http://www.extento.hawaii.edu/kbase/crop/crops/i_avocad.htm

The branches are thick and a scissor lift would likely damage or break the trees limbsand it wouldnt get you close enough to to pick the fruit.
Hope this helps

I'm a member PETAT (People for Ethical Treatment of Avocado Trees) and thus I advice treating that poor tree with love and kindness so...

Use a chainsaw. Slight problem with not being able to acquire further avocadoes though.

Exactly what dataheart said !!! I've had experience too, that's the best way to prune the avocado tree.

So get your ladder out sexy !!

Wait, the avocados will sue you if they fall out of the tree? Maybe that's why store bought avocados are so expensive--cost of covering litigation. 😁

Mystee,
You need either a bucket truck or manlift, a scissor lift won't work as they are only straight up and down. Might consider a tree trimmer to prune it

Aa bucket truck would be best, I'm sure, but a scissor lift only going straight up and down would still possibly work as I have a 30 foot doca pole that I can still use from the lift. I really like the ones of a bucket truck tho, but I will probably just end up climbing the tree myself again. I've done it before- I just get pretty nervous doing that sometimes...

Stay out of the tree. You will not bounce if you fall.
By the time you get a piece of equipment capable of doing the job you'll have over $ 500.00 into it.

Even if you have 500 bacon avocados 🥑 it ain't gonna pencil out.
Sorry

I will climb it with you if we gotta do it that way.

The tree will not be pruned to be any shorter. It is a great tree and produces wonderful fruit. But a lift or scaffolding around the tree to reach the top is needed.
Or we climb it girl.
