This was a bunch of fools that had no idea what they would do if they gained entry into the capitol.

Capitol Trespassing/Election steal Is that better? Still was disturbing to see. Many were armed. Most probably just got in over their heads. I still can’t figure out why anyone decided to break in, trespass and vandalize. Those people looked too old for that $h¥t. Maybe it was on their bucket list. It's funny because when you look at how Biden horrifically botched the Afghanistan withdrawal and 'accidentally' left $85B worth of high grade military hardware in place you can make an undeniable case for treason.
Add the fact that he abandoned the strategic airfield at Bagram against the advice of all his military commanders.

Many were armed.
I guess if you call walking canes, flag poles, and banners, I guess they were armed. No guns were in the Capitol building other than those of the Capitol police.
In some cases, the Capitol police actually opened the door and welcomed them in. I think the majority had NO intention of doing any damage. A handful of rabble rousers broke in the doors and the masses followed. If you watched any of the footage, most just wandered around looking, since it was probably the first time they had been inside the Capitol building.
No justification for violence or damage and those who were guilty should be punished.
However, most of those same people watched, as we all did, an entire summer where people were rioting, looting, burning, damaging and creating chaos and there were no consequences for any of those 'insurrectionists'.

These are many of the 'claims' of firearms that are being touted as armed insurrection. Read through them. Many happened on Jan 4 or 5. Many were not even AT the Capitol Building and some were near the White House. I wonder what a normal day looks like regarding illegal gun possession in DC. Nobody is tracking that information.
From what I understand, there there in excess of 2000 people at the Capitol that day. One or two have been found with guns and idiots bloat the stats...read the link and tell me those were people armed at the Capitol.

An on-duty Capitol Police officer was nearly knocked out of his chair during the blast, but fortunately no one was injured. The German-born man later wrote a letter to a Washington, D.C. newspaper saying he had planted the explosives to protest U.S. wartime aid to Britain and said he hoped the detonation would "make enough noise to be heard above the voices that clamor for war.” He then traveled to the home of J.P. Morgan in Long Island, New York and shot the financier. Morgan’s wounds proved superficial and he survived. Muenter was soon captured and detained in jail where, several days later, he died by suicide.

Out of the 52 insurrectionists who were detained there were six guns. If you extrapolate that number to two thousand insurrectionists it works out to about 240 guns. I won’t claim this estimate is precise but I bet it’s in the ballpark.
Now there is an amazingly 'scientific' method of extrapolation....
