There’s a saying in the industry that “Commercial fusion energy is 20 years away, and always will be.”
I hope I’m wrong and ITUR and the Chinese and likes of commonwealth fusion systems make real the real technology breakthroughs we need.

Almost as impressive as North Korea when they landed a man on the Sun.
They were the only ones smart enough to go at night.

We did this years ago in the 1980's

China's doing lots of cool developments. Their whole country is connected with high speed rail now. They're the most automated country in the world. There's always a lot of knee jerk pushback against China, because they brought freedom to Hong Kong by shutting down the anti-CCP radicals. But they dont rly lie much tbh. China did bring a lot of ppl out of poverty (the USD income looks low but living costs are lower too, can live off healthy food all for the cost of $1 per day), South Korea exited their Developing country status only in 2020 hence why China is still marked as a Developing country in the WTO, the country had a bunch of wars before 1979 but none since then.
They're on road to be most digitized economy, Tesla factory production just one example

This is not a best example, but pretend a car has 2 engines to move forward.
1 engine gets 1MPG and 1 engine gets 100000MPG, and they have to work together in order to do the job.
The 100000MPG engine still isn't a viable option until it doesn't need the 1MPH to help it. Once the 100000MPG engine can do it on it's own, now we are talking.
China may have the record in sustaining nuke fusion for 17 minutes, but it took a massive amount of more energy to do it.
Everyone is exploring nuke fusion, but we are a long ways away.
