South Beach, by definition, is a tourist trap.
Head south on Card Sound road to Alabama Jacks for some conch soup and a cocktail.
Also, almost any barbeque set up on the side of the road will be great.

About Mango’s….
go there before 4 pm/ happy hour.
It is a tourist trap, but great history, good food and great drinks.
And they are right about home-in-the-wall eateries. Many hidden gems that appear for 2-3 weeks before they are closed down. Some of the locals may be super shady, but if you are brave the food is varied and worth it.
Manteca was one of those “in know the know/where to show” mobile restaurants with great Portuguese food (before COVID).
