You realize your argument is: that it is better to catch the disease in order to have better resistance to the disease.
The study was natural immunity vs 1 shot.
2 shots is better than natural immunity.
Shots keep you from dying
Shopts keep you from going to the hospital.
This has been shown in study after study. But you cherry pick your information to come up with...see!? getting covid and spending a few weeks in the hospital is better than getting one vaccine shot!

Unfortunately the whole issue of natural immunity vs. vaccination has become a political see-saw. Both the right-wing and public health officials are responsible for this because neither has given both vaccination & natural immunity their due.
The truth is, the CDC study was more nuanced than those championing natural immunity would like to admit. True, during the Delta wave, prior immunity appeared to be superior to vaccination against infection & severe disease. What is ignored by some is the fact that the opposite was true for prior waves -- vaccination was superior to natural immunity against infection & severe disease. I'm not sure we exactly know why. Perhaps vaccination wanes more quickly than natural immunity. Perhaps natural immunity has more breadth than vaccination & is better adapted to fight off more genetically distant strains. In the study, vaccination consisted of two shots, not three, and three shots appear to improve on immunity in certain tests (antibody titers against different strains and measurements of efficacy against severe disease, but this could be due to the waning of two shots). We don't know how natural immunity vs. three shots of the vaccine compares against Omicron. That would be interesting to see.
Anyway, this issue of natural immunity vs. vaccination isn't what's really important. What's important is that we continue to build up any form of immunity against SARS-2 (in a way that minimizes harm).

Basically the gov's around the world want to control its citizens as is being done in China. And replicate that.
One tool is the Vax Pass. On it in China they add elements to it showing if your a good citizen then you receive more lets say points. This is turn allows you to live your life easier....for example getting a house loan.
At the core....that is what this is about. It was never about fighting a virus. The virus was used to move us in that direction.

Your T cells remember the virus if you get affected with the virus again and tells the body to make the right antibodies.
The vax.....actually tells your body to reduce or not make natural antibodies. Studies are coming out now showing this and they are not sure how long this last in the body....and or if its permanent.

Please note, the story referenced in the original post states:
"A new study released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that people who were both vaccinated and had survived a prior bout of COVID-19 were best protected from infection."
Also note that this study does not take into account Omicron, and in other reputable reports strongly suggest a previous infection of Covid does not protect you from Omicron.
As much as the Original Poster and the other naysayers want to argue that their delusional misperception that the vaccines don't work, they are wrong.
If you are a person who is "up to date" on their vaccine -- which currently means you got your original one J&J or two MNRA from Pfizer or Moderna, and a booster, you are highly protected from severe illness and death -- it's a practical and logical "insurance policy" if you will.
Me? A free vaccine vs. potentially being laid up for a couple weeks or ending up dead like some people I know? Vaccine for me.

Note that the study only suggests that natural immunity is better against Delta, not the original variant or Omicron. It also doesn't take into account the date of vaccination.
It also shows, rightly so, that the unvaccinated but previously infected have MUCH HIGHER hospitalization rates. And that's what all of us "lefties" have known.
The truth is it's relatively easy to track vaccination status since it's all entered into a database. It's also easier to conduct studies on cohorts of vaccinated and stratify them by date. It's much harder to detect immunological response of the previously infected, and harder to figure out exactly when they got it.
So it's common sense that public venues accept vaccination cards and not your personal story of that time you got Covid.

has caused massive damage, particularly in CA and NY with the largest populations.
The restaurant industry seems to have incurred massive damage in CA and NY. It appears that
more restaurants will be closing their doors in CA. I been to several restaurants that seem to
be operating at less than 50% capacity.
The smart people are voting with their feet and have moved to TX, FL and other red states.

Iām sure Iāve responded to your posts under multiple handles. I would like to encourage you to go party, especially with people you know who havenāt been vaccinated and donāt wear masks.
I want to stop you posting and thatās probably the easiest way to see that happen.
An infectious disease doctor on NPR was just asked if it was advisable to intentionally catch Covid to gain immunity. He said absolutely not. That youāre essentially playing Russian roulette that you will not be affected by it.

I don't think anyone is wishing people die. I just hope people understand the real risks involved here of being unvaccinated. My comment encouraging the unvaccinated to party was obviously sardonic.
Omicron is relatively mild for those who are vaccinated AND boosted, but those who just have the first two shots are less protected and those who are unvaccinated are the most vulnerable.
Herd immunity is going to take time to achieve. The next variant should be weaker than Omicron but even more contagious. However, getting to herd immunity is going to still result in lots of hospitalizations and deaths.
Remember, 2,000 Americans are dying each day right now of Covid. Anything you can do to protect yourself would be a wise decision.
Most of the people who are dying or are gravely ill from Covid are the unvaccinated. Normal_guy is just fucking with everyone. There's no way he can be this ignorant.
