There were only 33 states at that time, yet you seem to hold people in all 50 states responsible for thing's that happened in primarily 6 southern states. Then there are people like me whose ancestors didn't come here until the 1900's. We are not all accountable as you suggest. Your point would carry more weight if you substituted discrimination for slavery.

They were part of the union in the civil war.
They faught for American independence, abolishment of slavery and the defeating the South in the Civil War.
