Somebody ought to shoot those guys
Sounds like a 2nd amendment issue. It will unfairly affect the poor, who would have to buy renters insurance.
It's a gun tax plus a huge red flag that says "I own a gun".
I'm sure the gangs will be the 1st one's to get insurance...
Since the state already knows who has legal guns. It's just another money grab for the Libs/progressives to pad their pockets. Gun violence with registered owners is Not the problem.
This is more about gun safety. Discounts on premiums for gun safety classes, trigger locks, etc..
It's incentifying gun safety. That's a good thing right.?
Only law abiding citizens play by the rules.
That bill will do absolutely nothing to stop gun violence.
Nothing wrong with putting some measure in place for gun safety.
But you need to realize that most of the shootings are committed by the very people, criminals and gang bangers who wont register their guns or buy the insurance.
We dont have a 'gun problem' we have a criminal problem.
First of all, we can't even leave the house with our guns, if we do they must be unloaded and locked up in the fucking trunk. What the fuck do I need liability insurance for...if I go out and shoot someone, do you think the insurance company is going to pay out to the family of whom I shot and killed...lofnl. They are going to say I was illegally carrying a loaded weapon in public, which is against the law. The insurace company is not going to pay out because I was breaking the law. So fucking dumb.

I am glad i don't live in Los Angles.
I wonder if USCCA insurance will suffice?
Owning a gun and having an "accident" is not like driving a car and having an accident. The gun is either locked in a safe place or secured in a holster on a person. If the gun comes out of the holster it is most likely being used in an international manner. The word "Accident" should never be associated with gun use or safety. Most if not all unintentional shootings are from negligence of the gun handler.
***Intentional

Slow down a minute Alec, might have an accident.
The rulers of CROC always have a stupid idea ready to keep the sheep in line.
They know there is no way to keep the bad guys in tow.
You gotta wonder how stupid the voters are when this crackpots are voted in.
I am sure the DA can help with this mess.?
Gavin Nuisance disciples at their finest.

With mandatory mail in balloting now in CA because we are in the perpetual state of 'Pandemic' these Progressive fucktards will push whatever legislative nonsense they want no matter how smart the voters get.
Baldwin just got 10 years so I would ask if this 'insurance' would cover negligence on his behalf

Gun deaths per 100,000 persons:
Alaska - 24.4
Mississippi - 24.2
Wyoming - 22.3
New Mexico 22.3
Alabama - 22.2
Louisiana - 22.1
Missouri - 20.6
South Carolina - 19.9
Arkansas - 19.3
Montana - 19.3
The 10 states with the highest numbers of guns:
Texas (588,696)
California (344,622)
Florida (343,288)
Virginia (307,822)
Pennsylvania (236,377)
Georgia (190,050)
Arizona (179,738)
Ohio (173,405)
Alabama (161,641)
North Carolina (152,238)
If there was a correlation between the number of guns in a state and the rate of gun violence it would be obvious. There is not. Guns aren't the problem. Criminals are the problem. Politicians that are soft on crime create more victims. They always talk about 'Gun violence' to distract you from the pieces of shit that are actually committing the crimes.
It's unlikely that you'll get people that are criminals to buy liability insurance. This is just another attempt to make it a little harder for non criminals to own a gun.
Typical liberalism:
Fine/Tax/Charge law abiding citizens for the harm and scourge of violent crime, while releasing criminals out the back door with no bail, low sentences, reduced sentences, or charges never being filed. As crime increases, so does the financial liability of the law abiding citizens!
Fuck you, liberals.

@Spanner
1. You can own a car without having it insured. There's no law requiring you have insurance on every vehicle you own. Only when you drive it on a public road is there a requirement to get insurance. I can have a truck and only drive it on a farm and have no insurance.
2. Driving is a privilege. Owning a gun is a right.

What would gun liability insurance do for a city like Chicago? With 800 gun homicides in 21. Would insurance prevent those deaths?
All this does is open another avenue for libs/progressives to try and remove guns from law abiding individuals. It does absolutely nothing to prevent/protect anyone from criminal gun use.
Any new gun laws should be proven to get the guns from criminals.
Start in Chicago, to see if the law works.
I will pay the ins if they let us open carry without permits.
@cgem half the country can open carry no problem
Your Captain
No logic. One is per capita and the other is totals due to larger populations.
Your post makes no sense.
Yes because the idiots in CA and LA think law abiding gun owners are the problem...
The commies control Cali and they don't want you to have guns

"First of all, we can't even leave the house with our guns, if we do they must be unloaded and locked up in the fucking trunk. Totally agree with the statement above.
And I'd much rather choke the shit out of an asshole than shoot him.
But if a stupid ass kid, shoots up other kids in school, than the parents who provided the guns should be held accountable.
The stupid parents should be locked up. If they're going to be so negligent to let their kids have access, then lock their asses up.
To me this really only solidifies that some can not handle the responsibility of owning a gun. Who determines that? I can't really say. I'd say though it's time for people to own the actions of themselves and their kids. There's no blaming a weapon for the destruction of lives. Since it took someone buying, loading, and pulling that trigger.

Last 2 comments are TOS violations.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with corndog on this one.
It's a TOS on his part but true.
Parent doesn't take proper care of their tools and offspring uses them improperly?
Parent gets charged, like the 2 idiots that bought their mentally ill offspring a gun
Fuck them
Guess my comment should get deleted then. Lol
Um, sure, charge the LAPD extra gun liability insurance as well - percentage wise, they have more 'incidences' with their guns.
If anyone thinks this is about safety, Your 4th booster shot wait for you. Smh... and the batch # on it has proven to be quite deadly.
Oh shit, the blog police are coming after my ass.
That Oath Keeper jackass stewart rhodes dropped his gun and shot himself in the face.
maybe insurance would have paid for his eye patch.
It must be nice to be surrounded armed goons with guns and make laws for the peasants .
Yeah I’d rather be a felon than play by the rules of gun grabbing Nazis.
How about liability insurance in case the condom breaks
Curious, do any of you here that think mandatory gun liability insurance is a good idea own a gun? Or have any experience handling firearms.
I grew up around/handling guns. Many I'm sure have not and generally think no one should have them.
It makes me wonder if the people coming up with guns laws have any experience with guns at all?
A quick Google search of the council members proposing the bill. Based on appearance alone. I bet none have ever handled or been near a gun in their lives.
Such babies... just suck it up and buy the insurance. It's not that much.
