There needs to be made a distinction between BLM the movement & BLM the organization.
The former is something I can get behind. Black lives do matter, and we need to be cognizant of inequalities that still exist today.
The latter is an organization that condones rioting, is linked to Marxist ideology, supports economic sanctions against Israel, & sees every single event or institution in terms of whites exploiting everyone else (an unbalanced point of view).

I don’t know much about BLM as an organization or charity, but I do believe Black Lives Matter. No person should be singled out and treated differently because of the color of their skin.
I also believe blue lives matter. Anyone who doesn’t support the police is that insane, unless of course you’re treated differently and targeted simply because you’re black or brown.
What we should all strive for is fundamental fairness. There are good and bad people on all sides of every equation, except when you’re referring to white supremacists. They are by definition racist.
It’s nice to finally see some Republicans calling out the RNC and Trump’s lies for the first time. It’s necessary for a healthy Democracy.

However, many programs conducted by the government are now giving preferential treatment to certain people based upon the color of their skin. Somehow equality is now being portrayed as equity. There is a huge difference.

I get it. People hate preferential treatment.
However, let's assume most hiring managers are white. Most business owners are white. Most land owners are white.
Most people naturally gravitate to the familiar. All things being equal, people naturally gravitate to and give preferential treatment to their own kind. White people have been given preferential treatment for hundreds of years. That is a fact.
Historically, people of color have been discriminated against by white people in power. That is a fact that Republicans don't want to have taught to kids in school. Suddenly white people are sensitive about history.
So, given all of those factors, giving people of color some preferential treatment to simply try to level the playing field doesn't sound so unreasonable.
No one wants reverse discrimination. Just fairness.
