A lot of former Soviet satellites have joined nato. Poland is in nato and reportedly has missles.. Possibly aimed at Russia. So Russia cannot t possibly allow the Ukraine to join nato. Russia before WWII was fearfull of being encircled by hostile capitalist countries.
