How many of us believe that our NATO allies have done/paid their fair share?
Only 10 of the 31 member nations actually come near the agreed upon target of 2% on defense spending. Germany and France are the big economies that are closer to 1% than 2% and those are the 2 countries that are moving more quickly towards a more dependant relationship with Russia.
So for all the talk about Trump putting a crowbar to the NATO alliance take a look at the track record ... Trump may have been clumsy and boorish with his Demands regarding Nato defense spending but asking nicely didn't get us anywhere... Trump embarrassed countries in to ponying up to their obligation.
If Merkel were still chancellor I doubt very seriously that she would have stepped up as the current Chancellor and I am pleasantly surprised by his and the Bundesrats actions over the last 24 hours. We can only hope that this wake up call actually lasts for a period long enough to not only quell the current war but to put at bay the coming Chinese aggression we all know is coming.
All that to say this... Trump embarrassed NATO ... a few countries were embarrassed and paid a lil lip service to Trump but kissed Putins ass. Now they have second thoughts .... and you guys with all your righteousness can't figure out that yeah Trump was an asshole but so are our Allies they are just polite about it.
