Can't really address the crux of the article due to TOS, but some serious questions are raised here.

#1 that's still a lot of dead people but why would you use an algorithm rather than actual count of actual death certificates
#2 Judging from this report and CDC stance for this cohort, LAUSD is obviously all about higher union pay and couldn't care less about quality of education
