Was it a good joke? Could he have done something better? Most certainly.
But now you have a grown man, a leading actor in Hollywood smack another in front of a world wide audience, and as many have said if it had been someone else he would have been escorted out the building.
Now the Academy has to make an example out of him as they cannot be seen to condone violence in any ways. And the same people that cost Johnny Depp projects will want Smith’s “pound of flesh”, as he was on live international televisions.
In short, his anger got the better of him and he fucked himself.
He’s rich and he is going to be ok, but another tragedy of no self control.

We have literally watched this man's mental state spiral and no one said anything and just continued to joke and make memes, laughing at him and his family... Now people are suddenly surprised he snapped?
Making fun of someone's medical issue is NOT ok. She has openly talked about her insecurities and struggles dealing with her hair loss and confidence.
I don't condone in putting your hands on someone but if someone made a joke about my mom's hair loss due to a medical condition I probably wouldn't react nicely either ..my mom has cancer and alopecia and it's not a joking matter

As others have said, if it were someone other than Will Smith who did that, they would have immediately been escorted out of the location. And he was not. He went out and partied like nothing happened, waving his award around. Chances are very good that they will at least threaten to, and probably move forward with, taking his award away. He needs to find his balls again and stop having his chain yanked. She already "bitched" him on her show, now with one look, she bitched him in front of the world. I feel bad for Will. Am I saying it was staged? No, but controversy sells.

Yep Smith being banned will help. An invited guest, to be honored, behaves like a brat and criminal. That's how he thanks his hosts. He assaults another special guest, tarnishes the academy, puts them into a very awkward position.
Think he will ever be invited back? Presenter? Seat warmer? Obviously never winning again. Might never be nominated. May never land another role in major film.
