Governor Newsom issued an Executive Order to help accelerate groundwater recharge, stormwater capture, and conservation efforts;
California is leveraging a historic $8.6 billion investment and prioritizing groundwater recharge, stormwater capture, reservoir storage, infrastructure improvements, and more;
Not only is our state government inept, so is the Metropolitan Water District of So Cal !
At a minimum, every drop that enters the San Diego and San Juan Creeks in OC, Santa River Trail, San Gabriel River, LA River, and many more should be captured and utilized !
We need massive investment in reservoirs and dams !
Here's a picture (link) of the Santa Ana River trail at Brookhurst & Hamilton, and I've seen the water level at full capacity and it just runs out to the Pacific.
If we don't do something --- and this year especially --- to capture, store and later use this water that we've been blessed with, then we deserve the trophy for the " Society of Biggest Idiots " ...
Look at the picture and all of the channels that just lead that water right to the Pacific Ocean ...
" Officials " --- Who I am sure are making $ 150 K plus a year and have full pensions after 30 years, need to be held accountable and report on what progress they are making weekly ...
It --- Accountability --- absolutely falls on the desk of Gavin, and Gavin needs to grow a set of balls and tell the folks in the water business to get it done or they will be replaced with people who can get it done
Mismanagement of the public needs at the highest levels ...
I've lost a lot of good employees over the last decade to the high cost of general needs :
Gas prices
Natural Gas
Water
Electricity
Housing
Food
Etc...
I travel a lot to Texas on business, and while it doesn't appeal to me to live there, a lot of younger folks who see the light are saying cie la vie - au revoir California ...
Even though John Cox had no chance of winning, I still voted for him, cuz the Dem's gonna win in California anyways, and they have proven how incompetent they are for decades !
Hey EdmondDontes why don’t we BLOW 🔥 up 💥🔥 Huntington Beach. The growth in sambar Dino county, or the inland empire, contributes more to the economic well-being of the state then your general area does. I do agree with this blog, though that we need to do a better job of saving all this water.
About 6 or 7 years ago the state & local governments worked with 3 profs from UC Davis - my alma mater BTW , where they diverted the rain runoff to the surrounding almond groves & farms in the area. IIRC the test area covered 350 - 500 acres.
It was done after a study from those 3 people was published and showed the amount of aquifer recharge that would occur from the diversion. But it had been proposed 10 - 15 years earlier.
They worked with the ranchers and farmers who's land would be impacted but since it was done in the winter the trees and fields would be dormant and the expected damage would be minimal.
It worked amazingly well and recharged several key aquifers in the area and the ranchers & farmers land got a ton of free water.
But it was a 'pilot' program and the state only agreed to do it once.
And the fucking leftists want to tear down O'Shaughnessy Dam, which forms the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, drain the reservoir, and restore the upper Yosemite Valley...
Hetch Hetchy Reservoir can store as much as 117 billion gallons for the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, which serves San Francisco, Santa Clara, Alameda and San Mateo counties.
"Hetch Hetchy Reservoir can store as much as 117 billion gallons for the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System, which serves San Francisco, Santa Clara, Alameda and San Mateo counties."
You kidding? I love the idea that they'd all die of thirst.
Fuck those puts.
