Rupert Murdock just testified under oath that Fox New anchors lied about Biden stealing the election from Trump and the fact that they all knew it was false.
Fox News knows that its dumb-as-shit viewers will believe anything they tell them.
I like Woody Harrelson as an actor and as a person, but I don’t think he’s necessarily smart or intellectually sophisticated and wouldn’t give anything he says any weight whatsoever.
Woody also claimed that Covid was caused by 5G signals. How fucking dumb do you have to be to believe that?
The CDC said that Covid “might" have been developed in a Chinese lab with “low certainty”; that means they don’t know for sure.
Lastly, and most importantly, who gives a fuck where the virus is from? In terms of safety, does it matter if it came from bats from a live market or if it was made in a lab?
If anything, a man-made virus that was created as a weapon would make me want to protect myself by getting vaccinated even more.

I wrote "in terms of safety" it doesn't matter how the virus originated. If China did in fact create Covid in a lab, China should be punished and should somehow be made to pay for the cost to human life and the economic impact worldwide.
How exactly is Fauci involved in this? Oh yes, the far right propaganda machine attempted to tie Fauci to that lab because no one who tells you to protect yourselves can be trusted. If you follow your own logic, you'd be embarrassed repeating it.

The early credibility issue of the lab leak hypothesis has to do with the early promotion of hyperbolic views (a bioweapon from China!) more than anything else. For those who cared to listen, scientific views espousing the lab leak hypothesis were out there (I remember discussing them with friends) -- though not as much as those supporting zoonotic origins (because that's usually how these viruses find their way into the human population and therefore was the preferred hypothesis -- at least initially -- among biologists generally). When you have one side promoting hysteria and the other promoting scientific reasoning, the latter is usually going to win out.
But now conservatives are blaming scientists and their typical punching bag -- the mainstream media -- rather than admitting the responsibility for those on their side for undermining the credibility of their preferred hypothesis. This is trying to rewrite history, something that conservatives have been trying to do with many aspects of the pandemic.
Still today, I'd say it's 50-50. Anyway, that's according to the viewpoint of the US intelligence community in totality.

Of course the origin hypothesis has everything to do with safety and prevention of future pandemics! Since it's still pretty uncertain as to which hypothesis is the correct one, you have to treat *both* of them as valid, and this includes doing what you need to do to prevent the escape of pandemic-level pathogens from labs as well as doing something about the continued human encroachment into previously undisturbed areas that leads to zoonotic spillover.

TLDR: We won't solve these arguments here. There's less malfeasance, and more care than people think. Now, let's look at titties.
An escape from a lab, either intentionally or unintentionally isn't out of the question and never was out of the question. Most scientists who study infectious diseases think it came from a wet market, transferred from animals, because that's where history tells us to look. Regardless, half the country screamed that it was all fake, and we don't need masks, vaccines or other measures. Really it's one or the other it's either real however it got out and spread, or it's fake. My Fox News loving friends and family members need to pick one. The CDC always over reacts. That's their job. Their job is to control disease. Their info changes rapidly as research gets done, especially in an emergency. If they don't err on the side of being cautious and clear - meaning they present stuff as if it's 100% undisputed fact and give clear guidelines, no one would listen to them. The CDC never says, well, we're not really sure so you might wash your hands, you might not, you might wear a mask, you might not, you might get a vaccine all the data says is helpful, but only if you really feel like it. No. They give recommendations as strongly as they can so people listen. Then new info comes in and sometimes they reverse their previous recommendations. That's how information and learning work. When lives are at stake, they opt for clear and cautious. In retrospect, maybe we should have let the kids go to school. it seems they really suffered from missing out on that time in school in many ways. But I don't think there was malfeasance. I don't think Trump was meaning to be malicious when he delayed response in the beginning. I think he was weighing the response with the effects on the economy. You can't even really blame him (and I can't stand him) for calculating the effects a tanking economy would have on his re-election. Anyone running would do the same. I'm just glad as many people got the vaccine as they did. That and people being exposed to the milder strains in the last year or so mean that future strains aren't likely to be as bad or contagious. It's what the CDC was trying to go for in the beginning...get people vaccinated, and otherwise build up herd immunity as quickly as we could. But the erosion of trust in government and journalism - not entirely without reason, though I think it's gone way too far at this point, with Fox News fueling some real bat shite info they know is complete BS, because they want to keep their viewers. Most media outlets are the same, with their own bubble they want to keep entertained and happy, or they'll subscribe to something else that aligns with the views they already have...but because of that distrust, we didn't get to more people being protected as early as we could have. Now the only people that die are generally really old, unvaxxed and otherwise not immune. So we've almost come full circle. Now...I'm gonna stop reading all this arguing and go look at some titties.

You're giving NR too much credit. He's claiming that because some right wingers were espousing outlandish theories, the MSM just couldn't help themselves but to dismiss the much more credible lab leak theory as well. In other words, they could not have been expected to overcome their own biases (although they like to claim that they have none) and objectively evaluate the lab leak theory on its own merits.
And even if that were true, and NR is tacitly admitting that the MSM is biased to the extreme, it doesn't excuse the vilification of those who espoused the lab leak theory, especially if they didn't espouse an outlandish variation or extension.
As for safety, MA clearly wasn't talking about the prevention of future outbreaks. He loves to talk about getting vaxxed and vilifying those that don't. Come on.

You're right, the MSM media's reaction was in part an overreaction to the hyperbole from the other side. An overreaction that was of course just as hyperbolic and, in all honesty, troublesome. It also was a reaction to the evidence that like 60-75% of new infectious human diseases come from animals.
The issue became polarized quite quickly. And voices of reason that could explain why the lab leak hypothesis is real got drowned out by the MSM. But they were there for those who listened. Like Richard H. Ebright. And I don't recall him ever getting punished for espousing reasonable views early on the lab leak hypothesis. (See attached article).
He's very good, and he's agreed with me in the past on a particular point about this.
