I just fired a beta simp fucking millennial! After 4 days of putting up with his bull shit.
The guys 36, graduated from columbia but not in engineering - in construction management so hired as a pm.
First warning sign - First day on the job he has to meet me at the office so I can take him to the projects around Austin - first thing he says to me when we're in the truck, it's 9:30 am BTW - 'I have to eat every 2 hours can we stop somewhere?'
Warning #2 - at the 3rd project we stop at we've got to move some lumber and boxes into the storage bin - the lumber is some 2x's & 4x's but their cedar which is really light compared to doug fir, the boxes have some balusters and corbels and weigh MAYBE 20 lbs/box.
He tells me - 'I can't lift those! I've got a bad back!' considering that I was a journeyman carpenter for 16 years both working for others and working for myself HE WANTS TO BITCH ABOUT A BAD BACK?!?
Plus I'm the guy he's working for and MY name's on his check! Yet I'm picking this shit up and throwing it in the Fing bin!
3rd warning - I'm taking him to San Antonio to show him the projects we've got down there, about 1 1/2 hour drive from Austin.
I decide to drive my '56 Ford F 100 cause it's a nice day and I haven't driven it for awhile. Told him to meet me at the office at 8:30 cause it's a long drive - we get on the road and have gone about 15 miles when he says 'We have to go back! I forgot my phone!' I tell him he doesn't need it and can get it when we get back.
He starts to freak! So I turn around so he can get his Fing phone!!! We get back on the road a FUCKING hour later then I wanted and I've got the pedal to the metal to make up time - NOW he tells me - 'He's not comfortable in my truck!'
Cause it doesn't have seat belts or ac!!!
I tell him I'm not turning around again and if he doesn't feel comfortable I'll pull over and let him out but I'm going to SA. So he tells me to get off the 35, the freeway, and let him out and he'll 'uber' back to the office.
I pull off let him out at the curb and tell him to wait at the office til I get back - BOOM BABY!
You're GONE!

Lied on his resume and lied in the interview. Although he really did go to columbia.
I told him in the interview - 'This isn't a 9 - 5. This is 'A whatever it takes to get the job done WE do, job. We're a small company and EVERYONE here depends on everyone else doing their job. If you can't do that this isn't the place for you.'
His answer - 'No problem. I'm a 'get the job done' kind of guy.' blah blah blah.
Claimed he'd run jobs in the field before and his former employer/supervisor backed him up, which was a lie! this guy had NEVER been on a job site in his life!
They also said he was a diligent, smart and hard working. All of that was complete bullshit and I have no doubt that he was fired from his former engineering firm and they just wanted him out their hair.
OR if he was those things to them, then it was by millennial standards which are so far off from my standards that you can't get there from here.

Oh forgot - I've got 12 people in the office and I had everyone in the office spend some time with him - take him out to lunch or what ever, just talk to him and get a feel for him.
After everyone had met him, we had a meeting and I got everyone's impression of him.
He SNOWED EVERYONE, including me - They all thought he'd be a good fit.
Funny thing is that he was only here for 4 days but DAMN ... everyone had some great stories! We laughed like hell about his antics for the next couple of days.

The real problem that I have with people like that - is that THAT'S who's coming in behind me and those of my generation and they're running the world now!
Being around him for awhile reminded me of a quote I read a long time ago -
'Hard times make hard people. Hard people build countries and civilizations.
Soft times make soft people. Soft people lose everything that hard people build'
That's where this country is at the moment - millennials and gen z's are the softest mfer's I've ever met!
